BUSANI

I don't blame Maya at all with how she reacted to me because we haven’t been open to each other about our lives. I was planning on telling her about my life on our coffee date but unfortunately she saw my identical twin brother and now she thinks that I am married and was planning on having an affair with her. She was upset and I get it because that means she likes me more than she thinks and the feeling is mutual.

I'm  going to sort this mess out before things get out of her hand and I get blocked off for good. I can't have that because I really like Maya and I want many things with her. I've been sitting in my car for an hour now. I'm tired, want to shower, have some food then sleep. A car parks next to me, I wait before I step out.

“What's wrong, what happened? Are you okay?” He's panicking. When I called him, I told him I was in trouble then hung up. He tracked me here as I expected but I didn't think he would bring Bonga with him.
“You didn't have to bring him with you….”
“You said you were in trouble, I couldn't show up here alone.”
“He just showed up at my house and picked me up and then we came here. What's going on?”
“Come, I'll explain” I tell them.
“Who lives here?”
“You'll see”

“Are we going to beat someone up?” Mbuso and I look at him like he's crazy.
“Why would you think that?”
“Because look at the time,” he says.
“No, we're here because of him” I post at Mbuso.
“Me? What did I do?” He's surprised.
“You unknowingly got me into trouble.”
Mbuso shakes his head. We get in the elevator then step out on the third floor and head to her apartment.

“Wait next to the door, I don't want them to see you just yet.”
“Oh fuxk, someone saw me and they thought it was you?”
“Yes and you had your tongue down Luh's throat.” They both laugh.
“Oh, I like this.” Bonga is amused. Idiot
I knock then wait. Nobody answers. I press the doorbell and wait again.
“Maya, I'm not leaving here until you give me a chance to explain.”

“Her name is Maya. I like her name” Mbuso whispers to Bonga.
“Maya?”
“Go away Busani, I don't want to see you.”  She says behind the door.
“Baby please. Open the door and let me explain.”
“No”
“You leave me no other choice but to sleep outside your door until you come out or let me in. I'm not leaving until you hear me out.”
“You wouldn't”
“Try me”
“Just leave me alone, please.”

“I wish I could but I can't. Maya I like you, more than you understand and I want to share so many things with you. Just give me a chance please. I'm not here to hurt you, play with your feelings or waste your time. There's something about you that calls out to me and I know you feel it too. It scares me because I have never felt this way about someone. You woke up something in me Maya. I don't know what it is but I only get that feeling when I think about you….”

The door opens and there she stands. I release a huge sigh of relief.
“It's late Busani”
“I know, let me in.” She looks at me for a while then unlocks the butler. She steps aside, I pull it then push the door to open wider. I walk in and my brothers follow me. I hear her literally gasping.
Her friend stands up when she sees us and her mouth hangs open.
“Oh my God” she says.

They greet her then we sit down. Maya keeps looking at me then at Mbuso. I stood up and walked towards her.
“Let me introduce my brothers. This is my identical twin brother Mbuso that you saw at the restaurant with his wife. This is our brother Bonga and we have another one who's the last born, Zipho. I didn't lie to you about anything. I'm not married or seeing anyone else besides you. Do you believe me now?”

She looked at me then my brother again and nodded.
“Guys, this is Maya Buthelezi.”
“Nice to meet you Maya.” They give her their warmest smiles.
“Nice to meet you too.” She softly says. “ This is my best friend Mbali.” They nod at her.
“So is he forgiven?” Bonga asks her
“Yeah, he is”
“My brother really likes you or he wouldn't have asked us to come here at this time. We're looking forward to getting to know you.” Mbuso says. Maya just nods. She is speechless.
“Please give him a chance, you won't regret it and you're going to love being part of our family.” Bonga tells her. She looks down.
