Y/N

I WENT to visit Kakucho in the hospital.

He was sitting on his bed with a cast on his right arm, staring quietly outside of the window. Once he noticed my presence through the reflection, he turned his head and greeted me with a weak smile. "Hey, Y/N."

I walked over toward his bed and placed a basket of fruits I brought on the bedside table. "How are you doing?" I asked softly.

"I'm good. The doctor said I was lucky to be alive despite losing a lot of blood," he replied in a casual tone. His expression was neutral. "I couldn't believe it myself."

I pulled a chair next to his bed and took a seat. "I see. Let me peel an apple for you," I offered and picked up an apple from the basket. Kakucho was only watching me silently as I started to peel the fruit for him with a knife. After I was done, I handed a slice to him using a fork. "Here."

His face looked awkward at my gesture. He frowned in displeasure. "You don't really have to do that, Y/N. Your boyfriend might get jealous."

"Don't worry, he'll get over it. Just eat it up quickly," I said jokingly and pushed the sliced fruit to his mouth. "Now, say 'ah'."

Kakucho was reluctant at first, but I insisted. "You sure are something else, Y/N," he commented as he took a bite of the apple slice and chewed it slowly.

"Tasty, right?" I asked expectantly.

He nodded. "It's sweet."

A pleasing smile flitted across my lips. "No kidding. I'm glad you like it. The fruit seller wasn't lying when he said these were the best apples in town."

Kakucho ate the rest of the sliced apples. "What are you doing here anyway, Y/N? I'm not in the best condition to entertain guests. You might just get bored."

I waved off his concerns. "Nonsense. Can't I visit a friend?"

Kakucho paused. Then, he gave me a genuine smile. "Thanks, Y/N. You and Takemichi are good people."

"I see that Michi came to visit you here too."

"Yeah, he did."

"I just went to his place earlier to check on him. His left foot is badly injured and has a cast on it. It will take a while for his foot to heal." I sighed helplessly. "You boys always love to get into trouble, aren't you? I could never understand delinquents."

Kakucho did not refute.

Staring at his injury, I remembered about Mikey's account of that evening and I couldn't help but feel sorry for him for losing someone important. "I heard everything from Mikey. I'm sorry about Izana, Kaku-kun," I said quietly. "I know how much he meant to you."
