Ishitha's POV
"Ahhh," I whimpered, my voice hoarse, as I slowly tried to make sense of my surroundings.
The harsh realization hit me-I was tied to a chair, my wrists bound tightly behind me, and a strip of duct tape sealing my mouth.
I had no idea how long I'd been unconscious or how much time had passed since I ended up here.
The basement reeked of blood and sweat, the stench invading my senses, making my stomach churn violently.
My throat burned with dryness, and sweat dripped down my face, soaking through my damp dress, and clinging uncomfortably to my skin.
"Why the hell am I stuck here?" I thought bitterly, as a lone tear slipped down my cheek.
The past few hours-or had it been days?-played on an endless loop in my head.
I had no idea where Adi and Maa were or if they were safe.
The moment I saw the video, I had no choice but to rush here.
Their lives were at stake-what else could I do?
But now, I realized how terribly wrong that decision had been.
I should have called Vikram. Or his men.
Anything but this impulsive move.
"Arghh!" I screamed against the gag as regret coursed through me like fire.
"What the hell did you do, Ishitha?"
The thought of Adi and Maa being in danger made my mind numb. I couldn't think straight anymore, and in that haze of fear, I'd followed his instructions blindly.
And now I was here-hungry, exhausted, my sanity eroding with the stench and the darkness.
Before I could sink deeper into my thoughts, the sound of footsteps echoed off the damp walls. My heart raced.
He was here again.
His face was covered by the same mask as before, hiding whatever humanity might have been left in him.
"Who are you?" I croaked, my voice raw and trembling as he approached.
He didn't answer. Instead, his hand shot out, grabbing my elbow harshly, making me wince.
"Why are you doing this?" I choked out, my voice barely above a whisper.
Tears streamed down my face, as he dug nails into it.
"Please... just leave me."
"Leave you? Huh? So easily?" he sneered, his grip tightening as his voice dropped to a menacing growl.
"After what your bastard of a father... and his father did to me?"
"What?"
I whispered, confusion swirling in my mind. "Who's father? What are you talking about?"
He laughed, the sound guttural and filled with years of bottled rage. "You thought your little fairy-tale marriage was just a coincidence? Hah! Oh, you poor, clueless thing."
"I planned it. I fucking planned all of it."
His words felt like a slow poison, seeping into my thoughts, burning away every shred of certainty I had left.
