The old lady's nagging about marriage has been going on for quite a while, to be precise, it started right after her 25th birthday when her nightmare began.

According to Wang Miao's mom, as men get older, they gain more experience and become more mature; it's different for women, the older they get, the more it's just about age, and the standards for choosing a partner can only be lowered.

There's another phrase that Wang Miao's mom often brings up, "Which girl from our Niohuru clan hasn't been married by 25?"

During dinner, Wang Miao's mom brought up the old topic again. Before Wang Miao could say anything, her little niece stepped in for her, "Grandma, the Qing Dynasty is long gone! Wake up!"

Wang Miao couldn't help but chuckle, then quickly put on a stern face to scold her niece, "Wenwen, how are you talking to grandma?"

Turning away, she gave her niece a thumbs-up.

After dinner, Wang Xiwen went back to her room to do homework. Wang Miao, following her mom's instructions, cut a fruit plate and brought it to her niece. As soon as she entered the room, she saw Wang Xiwen quickly hid a book in her school bag.

"It's me, don't be afraid," Wang Miao put the fruit plate on the table and tapped her niece's head, "Are you reading some kind of adult book?"

Wang Xiwen laughed and took a bite of the apple from the plate, "Is grandma going through menopause? She's got quite a temper."

"Don't change the subject, you're about to be a senior in high school, focus on your studies," Wang Miao put on a serious face, which was quite intimidating, but Wang Xiwen, who grew up living with her grandma, wasn't afraid of her aunt at all.

She even put on a show, "If I can't study well and can't find a job, I can always inherit the throne, right?"

Wang Miao slapped her on the back of the head, "Stop joking and get to your homework!"

Wang Xiwen made a face at her and slowly picked up her pen to work on math problems. Wang Miao watched for a while before quietly closing the door and leaving.

In the living room, the old lady was wearing reading glasses and looking at a dating website on her tablet. Seeing Wang Miao, she was about to nag again, but Wang Miao quickly said she had to prepare lessons and retreated to her room.

Wang Miao's mom has the surname Niu, and her ancestors were from the Manchu clan Niohuru. Wang Miao's dad is also Manchu, and before the founding of the People's Republic, the family name was Aisin Gioro. Ever since Wang Miao learned a bit of history and became sensible, she always worried that her parents might suddenly ask her to restore a nation one day.

Fortunately, Wang's dad has always been a low-key person, and Niu only brings up the "Niohuru clan" when she nags her to get married these past two years.

Wang Miao sat on the edge of the bed, painting her toenails while holding the phone between her ear and shoulder, listening to her friend Tao Tao on the other end asking if she wanted to go out and play that night.

"The empress dowager is at home, I can't go," Wang Miao shook her foot after finishing the nail polish on one foot and switched to the other, "Tomorrow, I'll come to your place in the afternoon."

"That works too, tomorrow is Da Bin's birthday, I'll invite more people and we can hang out," said Tao Tao.

Wang Miao responded with a lackluster "Hmm," then took out a small 18-inch suitcase and started packing makeup and clothes.

Wondering if it had something to do with her mom's constant nagging, she felt like she was getting old. The last few times she went to nightclubs with friends, she wasn't interested at all. Looking at those pretty, fresh young girls surrounded by men fawning over them made her feel bored.
