Lola woke up with a grin on her face, unshakeable as she got ready for her big day. She had gone to sleep thinking of Alex, dreamt of him all night long, and woke up eager to see him again.
The music playing from her room as she dolled herself up woke up Mia and Perla, who groggily met her out in the suite living room as she headed for the door in her best sundress.
"Where are you off to looking so...cute?" asked Mia, raising an eyebrow.
"Out to explore the city," said Lola. "With some of the others."
"Some or one in particular?" Perla chimed teasingly.
"A few, I'm not fully certain who all is going," Lola lied. "I'll see y'all later, ok?" With that, she hurried out the door before she could be further interrogated.
She was still all smiles when she got in the elevator. The last time she'd gone out with Alex was when they went ice skating and that had been a perfect day. Before that, her only prior experience hanging out with a boy outside of schools or sports was having dinner with Lucas, so it sufficed to say she was a novice when it came to dating.
And yet she felt like she was ready to take that plunge, so far away from anyone who might stop her or make things difficult for her and Alex. At least, that's what she thought until she strutted down the lobby, only to halt to a sudden stop at the sight of Santana.
"Coach Lopez," she said as Santana eyed her up and down.
"Lola," said Santana. "Good. You're up. And not in your workout clothes..."
"I was just..." Lola stammered.
"Doesn't matter," Santana cut her off. "I'm here now. And most of the squad will have arrived and checked in within the next hour. I reserved us a rinky dinky gym to practice in today and am working on getting us the actual competition space for a few hours this week. Go get dressed. Practice will be at noon."
With that, Santana walked away, though still throwing glances back at her as she took her suitcase to the elevator. Lola sighed in disappointment, which was only further escalated when she saw Alex walking her way holding a small bouquet of lilies. He was grinning wide, but when he saw her sad look and head shake, he lowered the flowers and frowned.

"This sucks," said Perla as she, Lola, and Mia sat in their suite, wearing their workout gear. Perla had shades on her face and was rubbing at her temples. Alex and their other friends were there, too, with the exception of Cece, all spread out across the living room and sharing the same disappointed look as Perla added, "Coach Lopez has officially ruined our vacation."
"Oh well," said Mia with a defeated shrug. "We need the practice."
"What I need," Perla corrected her, "is sleep and coffee. I'm so hungover from last night that every time I try to stand I feel like I might barf."
"I have a little bit of a headache too," Lola admitted.
"This is why we should've just stayed in," Mia told them. Then she gasped, "See! I was right about Zar! Notice how he was the one trying to get everyone to drink!"
"You're being dramatic," Teddy told her as he put down the water bottle he was drinking from. "Zar was cool. And we all decided on our own to drink. He didn't force anyone so this is on us."
Mia crossed her arms, shooting dirty looks at Perla and Lola. "That I can agree on," she said. She stood up and grabbed her cheer bag from its spot by the wall. "I'm gonna head down to the lobby so we can go practice," she said. "The rest of you are welcome to stick around. Mi casa, su casa."
