The next day, Kat and Elizabeth sat in their hotel balcony. There were lounge chairs in that limited space, on which they were soaking in the morning sun.

"It's nice to actually spend the spring in real sun," Kat noted. "Even if it's just for a few days."

"As much as I've been trying to enjoy our week here," Elizabeth admitted, "every time I start having too much fun I get anxious about getting back home. I feel like my parents are gonna find out. They're going to be so disappointed."

"Don't be paranoid," Kat warned. "It's not like being is bad. You and Ricky were all over each other last night."

"That's so embarrassing," said Elizabeth, hiding her face as she blushed.

"It's not!" Kat exclaimed it was cute.

"I think his feelings are still hurt though," said Elizabeth. "Because I didn't share a room with him. I just... I want to take it slow and-"

There was a knock inside their room and Elizabeth got up, saying, "That's probably him." She went to the door but opened it to find Mona. "Oh hi Mona. What are you..?"

"I heard this was Kat's room," she said. "I was hoping to talk to her."

Elizabeth turned back into her room and saw Kat shaking her head. "Um, so," she turned back to Mona, "Kat's actually not available because she, um, went to-"

"You're so bad at this," said Mona, pushing past her into the room. Kat closed the balcony door and was about to ask her to leave but Mona said, "I know you're mad at me or whatever, but I spent all day with Lucas yesterday and I didn't do that just to hang out with him some more. I came here to talk to you. I have a peace offering. For both of you actually."

Elizabeth crossed her arms and waited, a little scared.

"I thought the three of us could go out and explore town and all that," Mona said. "Do you wanna do a girls' excursion or whatever? Just us three?"

Kat raised her brow, surprised. "You never wanna hang out with anyone but me," she said.

"And I'm sorry but," said Elizabeth, "as nice as it is... or kind of... I have plans with Ricky."

Mona turned to Kat, who didn't say anything else. "Do I need to get on my knees and beg you then?"

"No," Kat shook her head. "It's ok. I'll do it." She turned to Elizabeth and asked, "Is that ok?"

"Oh for sure," said Elizabeth. "Just... be safe. And call if you need anything."

Kat nodded, grabbing a t-shirt to place over her bathing suit. "Let's do it," she told Mona, who nodded and led her out.

As the Cheerios were knee-deep in their routine, Santana watched them carefully and had an idea. "Mia," she called to her in the middle of rehearsal. The other girls kept going as Mia jogged to the sidelines with her coach.

"Did I do it wrong?" she asked.

"No, I was just thinking," Santana sighed. "There's something about this routine that screams... boring. It needs a little something extra. But it might be crazy."

Mia shrugged. "Crazy could be the difference between number one and not placing. What's the idea?"

As they talked, Perla was trying to teach Lola how to do a part of the routine she was struggling with. But Lola wasn't paying attention, squinting her eyes at her and saying, "Now that coach is distracted... I've been dying to hear what happened last night. You disappeared on us and by the time I got back to the suite you were there asleep. What did we miss?"
