The library was a quiet haven, its towering shelves of books a stark contrast to the chaos unraveling in Hoseok's mind. He sat at a long wooden table, surrounded by Namjoon’s friends, who he was gradually growing to like. Their chatter was soft and respectful, their laughter muted to match the tranquil atmosphere of the room. Hoseok felt comfortable, at least until he dropped a bombshell that left everyone staring at him like he’d grown a second head.
“You did what?” Jimin’s voice broke the silence, startling a librarian nearby.
Hoseok’s eyes widened in panic. “Shh!” he hissed, leaning forward to hush him.
Jungkook clapped a hand over his mouth, eyes blown wide. “Oh my God.”
Namjoon chuckled, clearly amused. “That’s exactly what I said—just louder.”
Hoseok groaned, rolling his eyes. “Why is it so shocking? One-night stands are a common thing.”
Yoongi, who had been quiet until now, raised an eyebrow. “Sure, they are. But what if this stranger has HIV or worse?”
The air in the library grew heavy as Hoseok’s face dropped. “W-What?” he stammered, his heart pounding.
Namjoon glared at Yoongi. “Don’t scare him like that.”
Yoongi shrugged, unfazed. “I’m just being realistic. Did they even use protection?” He crossed his arms, his tone clipped.
Hoseok swallowed hard, his mind racing. “It was drunk sex. And I… I don’t really remember.”
“Exactly,” Yoongi said, leaning back. “What if this guy gave you an infection? Or worse, what if you’re… pregnant?”
The group froze.
“Pregnant?” Jin repeated, his voice a whisper.
Jungkook facepalmed. “Yoongi, stop being dramatic. Hoseok is a guy. He can’t get pregnant.”
Yoongi shot him a pointed look. “If Jimin can, why can’t Hoseok?”
Jimin’s eyes widened in betrayal. “I thought that was supposed to be a secret!”
Yoongi winced, looking apologetic. “It just slipped out, my love.”
“Yeah,” Jimin muttered, crossing his arms and looking away. “Just slipped out.”
Jungkook stared at them, utterly baffled. “Wait, what?”
Yoongi sighed, exchanging a glance with Jimin before saying, “Jimin… once got pregnant. With my child.” His voice was soft, tinged with guilt. “But it was a complicated pregnancy, and the baby didn’t make it.”
Jungkook’s jaw dropped, his expression a mixture of hurt and confusion. “You never told me.”
Yoongi reached for him. “It was before you joined us. Back then, it was just Jimin and me. When we fell for you, we decided not to tell you because Jimin wasn’t comfortable with it. He thought it was… weird. But it’s possible. Rare, but possible.”
Namjoon muttered, “Wow,” then glanced at Jin with a mischievous glint. “Maybe Jin can get pregnant.”
Jin gasped, swatting at him. “Babe!”
Meanwhile, Hoseok sat frozen, staring into the distance as the weight of Yoongi’s words settled in.
He couldn’t get pregnant. Right?
His mind spiraled. It was bad enough that he’d sneaked out to a party and ended up in bed with a man. Now, there was a possibility he might’ve contracted something—or worse, gotten pregnant. His parents would kill him.
“Oh my God,” he whispered, his breathing shallow. “Oh my God. Oh my God. This can’t be happening. It can’t.”
Namjoon’s eyes softened as he moved to sit beside Hoseok. “Hey, it’s okay,” he said gently, placing a hand on his shoulder.
Hoseok shook his head frantically, tears welling up in his eyes. “No, it’s not okay! What was I thinking? I wasn’t thinking! My parents—oh God, my parents…”
Namjoon pulled him into a hug, letting Hoseok bury his face in his shoulder as he started to cry.
The others exchanged uncertain glances.
Jungkook broke the silence. “I mean… your parents don’t have to know. Right?”
Hoseok lifted his head, his face streaked with tears. “You don’t know them,” he croaked.
Namjoon nodded grimly. “You really don’t.”
Jin frowned. “Are they… that bad?”
Namjoon sighed. “If they find out Hoseok slept with a man, they’ll lose it. And if they find out he might have an infection—or worse, be pregnant…” He trailed off, shaking his head. “It won’t end well.”
Jin’s eyes widened. “That’s bad.”
“Very bad,” Namjoon confirmed.
Hoseok’s sobs grew louder, his panic spiraling out of control. “What do I do?” he choked out, his voice muffled against Namjoon’s shoulder. “What do I do?”
Namjoon rubbed soothing circles on his back. “We’ll figure it out. Okay? We’ll figure it out.”
Yoongi sighed, looking genuinely remorseful. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Hoseok nodded weakly, clutching Namjoon’s shirt like a lifeline. But the fear in his chest didn’t subside.
What had he gotten himself into?
