Taehyung’s hands gripped the steering wheel tightly as he glanced sideways at Hoseok, who was silently crying in the passenger seat. Hoseok’s face was red and puffy, his lips trembling as silent sobs wracked his body. Taehyung’s worry deepened—Hoseok was crying so hard it almost seemed like he couldn’t breathe.
Taehyung sighed softly, trying to keep his focus on the road while his concern for Hoseok grew. “Hoseok, please… just calm down. You’re going to make yourself sick.”
Hoseok’s head snapped up suddenly, his eyes blazing through the tears. “Calm down?!” he screamed, his voice raw and trembling.
Taehyung froze momentarily, startled by the outburst, but quickly said, “What? I’m just saying you need to—”
“Don’t you fucking tell me to calm down, Taehyung!” Hoseok’s voice cracked as he practically shouted. “Do you even realize what you’ve done? If you hadn’t dragged me to that party—if you hadn’t forced me into your world—I wouldn’t have almost been raped by someone you idolize!”
Taehyung’s grip on the wheel tightened, his knuckles whitening. “Oh, so this is my fault now?” he shot back, his voice laced with frustration.
“Yes! Yes, it’s your fucking fault!” Hoseok screamed, his tears flowing freely now. “You’re the one who wanted to impress your stupid mentor! You’re the one who made me come! I didn’t want to be there! I just—” His words became jumbled as sobs overtook him.
Taehyung’s jaw clenched, his voice rising. “You’re being irrational, Hoseok! I didn’t know that bastard would do something like that! I would’ve never—”
“Don’t you dare call me irrational!” Hoseok interrupted, his voice breaking. “You don’t know what it felt like! To be held down like that, to feel so helpless! You weren’t there! And now you’re just telling me to calm down like it’s no big deal!”
Taehyung exhaled sharply, trying to keep his composure. “I’m not saying it’s no big deal! Stop putting words in my mouth!”
“Oh, so now I’m the crazy one, huh? Just because I’m upset doesn’t mean I’m making this up!” Hoseok snapped, his emotions spiraling. “You don’t care about me at all, do you? You just dragged me there to show off! Like I’m some kind of trophy—some little accessory for your fancy parties!”
Taehyung groaned in frustration. “Hoseok, that’s not true, and you know it! Stop twisting everything I say!”
“Twisting? Twisting?! You’re the one twisting everything! You don’t care about me! You’re just selfish, Taehyung! I'm just your personal assistant anyways!” Hoseok screamed, his words coming out in a chaotic rush.
Taehyung opened his mouth to respond when suddenly—
“Fuck!” Taehyung yelled as the headlights of a truck blinded him, swerving dangerously close to their car. His hands moved instinctively, turning the wheel sharply to avoid the collision. The car swerved violently before coming to a halt on the shoulder of the road.
Both men sat in stunned silence, their heavy breathing the only sound in the car.
Taehyung let out a breathless laugh, shaking his head.
Hoseok turned to him, his face etched with disbelief. “What the hell is wrong with you?!” he yelled. “We almost died, Taehyung! You almost killed me!”
Taehyung turned to face Hoseok, his laughter subsiding. “Hoseok—”
“No! Don’t ‘Hoseok’ me!” Hoseok snapped, fresh tears falling. “I can’t believe this! First the party, now this—what else are you going to do to ruin my life, huh?”
Taehyung didn’t respond immediately. Instead, he leaned forward suddenly, cupping Hoseok’s tear-streaked face in his hands. Before Hoseok could register what was happening, Taehyung pressed his lips against his.
The kiss was firm, unmoving, yet tender in its intention. It wasn’t about passion or desire—it was a desperate attempt to convey what words couldn’t.
Hoseok’s breath hitched as his mind raced, unable to process the sudden intimacy. Before he could react, Taehyung pulled back, his hands still cradling Hoseok’s face as he gently wiped away his tears.
“I’m sorry,” Taehyung said softly, his voice trembling. “You’re right. If I hadn’t brought you to that party, none of this would’ve happened. I’m sorry for everything, Hoseok. Please… forgive me.”
Hoseok stared at him, his wide, teary eyes searching Taehyung’s face for any hint of insincerity. But all he saw was raw vulnerability and regret. Slowly, he nodded, unable to find his voice.
Taehyung exhaled in relief, a small smile tugging at his lips. “Good boy,” he murmured, his voice low and warm.
Hoseok blinked, the words triggering a flood of memories he wasn’t ready to confront. His cheeks flushed as he quickly turned away, his mind reeling.
Good boy.
The words echoed in his mind, bringing back that night—the night he couldn’t forget. Shaking his head, he tried to push the memories away.
Maybe I’m just imagining things, he thought, biting his lip as he stole a glance at Taehyung.
But the pounding of his heart told him otherwise.
