Hoseok sat perched on Namjoon's lap, his knees on either side of his best friend, straddling him as if clinging to a lifeline. His tear-streaked face was buried in Namjoon’s chest, and Namjoon’s strong arms held him close, his hand soothingly running up and down Hoseok’s back.

"Shh, Hoseok," Namjoon murmured, his deep voice calm and reassuring. He pulled back slightly, reaching up to gently wipe Hoseok’s tears with his thumbs. "Calm down, okay? Just breathe. Tell me what happened."

Hoseok sniffled, his trembling hands wiping at his eyes as fresh tears fell. He glanced down, unable to meet Namjoon’s steady gaze.

From the other couch, Jin sat stiffly, his posture tense. His eyes were locked on the two of them, silently observing every interaction. His arms were crossed over his chest, a faint scowl on his lips as he tried to suppress the growing irritation in his heart.

"I…" Hoseok started, his voice weak and barely above a whisper. "I got disowned."

Namjoon’s face softened even more, his hands moving to cradle Hoseok’s cheeks. "Oh, Hobi," he said softly, his heart breaking for his friend. "Why? What happened?"

Hoseok sniffled again, his hands fidgeting nervously in his lap. "My parents… they found out about me sneaking out to a party," he said, his voice cracking as he continued. "And about the one-night stand."

Namjoon nodded, rubbing Hoseok’s cheeks gently to calm him. "And now…?" he prompted, his tone careful, patient.

Hoseok’s eyes filled with tears again as he looked into Namjoon’s kind, concerned gaze. His lower lip quivered as he whispered, "And now… I’m pregnant."

The words hung in the air like a thunderclap, the silence that followed deafening.

Namjoon’s eyes widened, his hands stilling on Hoseok’s face. Jin, who had been silently judging the scene, suddenly sat up straighter, his mouth opening slightly in shock.

"You’re pregnant?" Namjoon whispered, his voice barely audible.

Hoseok broke into sobs again, his head nodding as he choked out a shaky, "Y-yes."

Namjoon let out a soft "Oh, baby," and pulled Hoseok into his arms, holding him tightly as if trying to shield him from the weight of the world. He pressed a kiss to the top of Hoseok’s hair, murmuring soothingly, "It’s okay, Hobi. It’s going to be okay. I’ll take care of you, I promise."

Hoseok cried harder, shaking his head against Namjoon’s chest. "No, it’s not okay!" he sobbed. "There’s no bright side to this, Namjoon! My parents have disowned me. I’m pregnant, and it’s for some man I don’t even know. I won’t be able to go to school anymore without feeling ashamed of myself. Without feeling everyone’s judgmental stares."

Namjoon cupped Hoseok’s cheeks again, gently forcing Hoseok to look at him. "Hoseok," he said firmly but kindly, "don’t think about that right now, okay? What matters is you and your unborn child. That’s it."

Hoseok sniffled, his tears slowing slightly at Namjoon’s reassuring words.

"You can stay here as long as you want," Namjoon continued. "My parents wouldn’t mind—they’re not even around right now."

Hoseok managed a small, grateful smile. "Thank you," he whispered. "Thank you for everything, Namjoon."

Namjoon smiled. "It's nothing, anything for you."

Hoseok took a shaky breath and leaned his head against Namjoon’s shoulder, feeling a flicker of comfort despite the chaos swirling in his mind. Namjoon’s steady presence was a balm to his frayed nerves, but the weight of his circumstances still bore down on him.

As he wiped his face with the back of his hand, Hoseok turned slightly, his eyes drifting to Jin, who sat stiffly on the couch. Jin’s gaze was fixed on them, his lips pressed into a thin line, his displeasure evident.

"Jin," Hoseok murmured, his voice barely audible. "I’m sorry for… showing up like this. I didn’t mean to interrupt."

Jin raised an eyebrow, his expression unreadable. "It’s fine," he said curtly, though the tightness in his voice betrayed his annoyance.

Hoseok looked back at Namjoon, silently seeking an explanation. He tilted his head slightly, his brows knitting together in a subtle question. Namjoon let out a soft sigh, glancing briefly at Jin before returning his attention to Hoseok.

"It’s nothing," Namjoon said, his tone dismissive as he pulled Hoseok closer into his arms.

Hoseok nodded hesitantly, choosing not to press further. He rested his head against Namjoon’s chest, letting out a quiet sigh. Deep down, he hoped that things would settle soon, that the chaos of the night would fade into some semblance of calm.

But as he nestled into Namjoon’s embrace, the tension in the room was palpable, the unspoken words hanging heavy in the air.

Jin’s gaze flickered between Namjoon and Hoseok, his mind racing with thoughts he couldn’t quite voice. He tried to remind himself of the depth of Namjoon and Hoseok’s friendship, of the years they had spent as close as brothers. But the sight of Hoseok curled up on Namjoon’s lap, their proximity too intimate for comfort, stirred an unease he couldn’t ignore.

Namjoon kissed the top of Hoseok’s head again, his arms tightening protectively around him. "You’re safe here, Hobi," he whispered. "I promise."

Hoseok nodded weakly, closing his eyes as exhaustion began to take hold. He felt a small pang of guilt for intruding, for disrupting Namjoon and Jin’s night, but he couldn’t bring himself to leave. He had nowhere else to go.

If only he knew how much more complicated things would soon become.
