“Emma! Did you hear the news?” Kelly squealed as soon as I arrived at school the next day.

I stared at them blankly. “What news?”

“I can’t believe you didn’t tell us that you and Tyler were getting married!” Katie exclaimed, while both the twins pulled me in for a hug. Once they pulled away, they both started jumping up and down in excitement. “So, Where’s the ring?!” They both asked at the same time.

The information I was getting was still processing in my head, before it finally hit me. “What?! Where on earth did you hear that?” I asked in horror. Not that marrying Tyler was a bad idea…

They stopped jumping and frowned at me. “Isn’t it true? I heard Abby telling Sandra who heard it off Michael’s girlfriend Macy who apparently heard Amy and Jessica discussing your dress in the locker rooms! So it’s not true? Aw! We already had an idea of what bridesmaid dresses we were going to help you pick out and everything!” They both pouted, making me laugh.

“Kelly, Katie. Don’t you think that if I was getting married, you will be one of the first people to know? And that it wouldn’t be circling around the school like the black plague? The rumour mill at this school is just unbelievable sometimes.” I muttered the last part to myself, and then started to imagine Tyler in a tux. He would certainly pull off the look, I thought to myself.

“CONGRATULATIONS! Where’s the ring at?! You know quite frankly, I’m kind of disappointed in you not telling your best friends first! I had to find out from Stella! Who had apparently found out from Abby who heard it off Michael’s girlfriend Macy who had heard Amy and Jessica discussing your wedding dress in the locker rooms!” Alice’s enthusiastic tone came from behind.

I turned around to deny the fact that I was getting married but Kelly and Katie beat me to it. “It’s false! Emma said that if she was getting married, we’d be one of the first people to know!” The twins said at the same time, grinning widely.

Alice let out a breath of relief. “Oh thank god. Do you know how it made me feel when Sandra was telling me?! The whole time I was just thinking to myself, I can’t believe Emma would show Jessica of all people her wedding dress and tell her that she’s getting married before she’d tell me! Well it’s okay now. All good. Hi!” She waved happily, making me laugh at her delayed response.

“Why are Tyler and I always the only thing this school seems to talk about? I mean, I haven’t even been here for that long and Tyler is barely here at all. I just don’t understand.” I frowned, confused.

“Maybe because Tyler is a hot piece of fine meat that hates everyone and never spoke unless he had to give a reason for being late, and you’re the new girl that bumps into him and suddenly everything changes? I mean, I can see where they got the ‘getting married’ rumour from. I’m still trying to get over the fact that he apologised in front of people in Legal studies! I have never seen that done in my life! Of course, people exaggerated what happened by saying that he proposed to you in class which is how the whole wedding thing started.” Alice explained.

“Still, I don’t like being talked about.” I muttered, starting to turn red as people that walked by looked in our direction and started murmuring. I sighed, “I’m going to my locker then heading to class. I’ll see you guys later.” I smiled, before making my way towards my locker.

I was surprised to see Hayden casually leaning against it once I arrived there, but kept my expression blank. “Good morning Hayden. How are you?”
