Since the fire at the theme park, Tiffany has had a close eye on me. Suddenly she just seems too overprotective, like a Mama Bird. She drops me off at school and watches me until I go into the school building, and most of our time is spent inside because of "cold weather", until a few weeks later, Tiffany finally decides to loosen up and go on a date with Mario.

"She just seems so overprotective lately." I shrug, as I walk home with Taylor and her friends, Matt and Daniel, the twins in high school . I'm allowed to walk home, just as long as I have a buddy. "I'm so glad to have just one night alone. I think I've been parentally watched for so long I'm going to install IMVU."

"If you install IMVU, I'll barf." Taylor laughs.

"If you install IMVU, tell me your username so I can make a new account and pm you and pretend to be a pervert." Matt says. Daniel laughs.

"Ew, Matt.  Ew." I say, as Taylor laughs even more. "I was just kidding."

"Do you really have IMVU?" Daniel asks.

"No, just so I can get gullible girls to meet me so I can . . ." Matt starts, but then suddenly stops. "You know what."

"Kidnap them in a mysterious black van and a ski mask?" I ask.

"No. It's just an inside joke between me and Taylor and Daniel." Matt shrugs. "You wouldn't understand."

"Okay." I shrug.

"Still, Kat," Taylor says, with a serious face. "You shouldn't stay home alone. I could come over or something. There may be a reason your mom is acting overprotective."

"No, things will be fine. I just need a special night to myself, but I'll invite you over if I get bored. All I'll be doing is maybe a facial, nail-painting, maybe even a horror movie." I say.

"Alright, cool." Taylor says.

When I get home, Tiffany is making me some dinner for when I'm gone, then she gets ready for her date with Mario and then goes over the rules of staying home alone.

"You don't let anybody in or even open the door. Not even for girl scouts."

"What if they're selling girl scout cookies?"

"One of my friends' daughter is a girl scout and has tons of girl scout cookies if you want. Besides, it's not girl scout cookie selling season. It's QSP season, so basically candy, nuts, and magazines. All boring."

"Candy sounds nice."

"Kat, I'm serious." Tiffany says.

"Okay, okay. No going outside of the house, no answering the door, if someone calls and asks to speak to you or Mario I say your busy, etc, etc. Really, I'll be fine." I sigh.

"OK." Tiffany nods. "Bye, I'll see you later."

"Bye." I say, and hug her. I say bye to Mario also, and wave them goodbye as their car backs out the driveway. When their car is out of sight, I text Taylor, Matt, and Daniel for a while, then eat some preheated dinner that was sitting in the oven, which is mac and cheese. After that, I do a facial and paint my nails while watching The Cabin In The Woods. I've never seen a horror movie before, but it isn't really that scary, so I turn it off and watch Insurgent instead, which is pretty good. After watching that and washing off a facemask, I turn off the lights and get ready for bed. After putting on my pajamas, I look over at my hatbox, which is now on my bedside table, and open it. I take out the tapes and the tape recorder, then put in the first one.
