When It's Too Late

Day 27

Russell's POV

I didn't know what came in my mind why I asked her to go out with me. She's stunning tonight, I don't know if she always looks like this— Gorgeous. Maybe because I'm too focused on other people that's why I didn't see her.

We've been friends since we're kids, everyone said that we will end up together. But I'm too blind in love for Chesca to see that there's a possibility that I'll fall for Alyssa.

She's bubbly, friendly and a sweetheart. Everyone loves her, who wouldn't be? Maybe I'm just dumb, but I don't want to lose her just because of my stupidity. I really need to give this engagement a chance. But I really love Chesca.

“Is there any restaurant you want to go?” I asked her
“No, you can bring me anywhere.” I looked at her and saw her typing fast on her phone, I focused on the road.
The sound of her fingers typing on the phone is getting loud, is she pissed?
“Are you okay?” I stopped the car and look at her.
“Hey, Alyssa. Are you okay?” she didn't answer and just trying to breathe calmly.  I hold her hand reassuring her that its fine.
“Are you okay now?” she nodded with a heavy sigh.
“Would you mind telling me what is it?” she stiffened
“Its, its nothing. Just work related.” I nodded, I don't want to force her if she didn't want to tell me.
“We're here, should we go inside?” she look around and I got out of the car to open the passenger door.
“Let's go?”

After we sat down, I immediately asked for water.
“Drink this, it will help you calm down.” she looked at me but drink the water.
“So, tell me. What is the theme you wanted for the wedding?”  I didn't know but I really wanted to know, to think that the contract is almost done in WE both know it will end up with us getting married, soon.
“Are you listening?” I blinked
“Huh?” stupid Rus.
“I said, anything would do. I don't like over designed wedding, a simple wedding would do. Less hassle.” I nodded, but I think we're getting married once, it should be screaming wealth.
“Don't you like our wedding to be a big one?”
“Big one? No. I want it simple, like with family and friends.” I nodded, that would be boring, I wanted it with everyone, my business partners, the boards. Everyone, so that they will know that I'm not their only boss. Right? I think she would really be stunning on that day, walking down tha aisle, with my future mother-father in law.
“Russell!” I snapped out of my thoughts. I looked around and saw Alyssa with unreadable look.
“Are you okay? You look like you're not with yourself today. Are you thinking of something else?” I didn't have time to respond as the food already arrive. I should really pick myself up and fix this. She's losing interest, that's the last thing I wanted her to feel in this date.
“Shall we eat?” she nodded and didn't talk after that. She will nod and shook her head if I ask her something but not really responding.
“Have you already talked to Mom, if what is the dress you wanted?” I asked, hoping she would respond this time.
“No, but she—” she was silenced by my phone. It was Chesca.
“Answer it.” I looked at her, I don't know why but my heart started to beat like a bomb inside.
“No, no. Its not important.” I declined the call but before I could do anything, the phone rings again. This is not what I planned, it's literally ruining everything.
“Answer it.” I panicked when she stand up
“I'm going to the powder room.” I nodded and answered the call
“Hello?” I heard someone sobbing
“Help me Rus, can you pick me up? Please?” I sighed, she keeps on sobbing.
“I can't pick you up Ches, I'm busy. I'm with—” she started screaming.
“Rus, please! Pick me up, I don't want to be alone! Please!” I look at Alyssa who came back and sat in front of me. I closed my eyes and sighed.
“Do you need to go?” I shook my head immediately
“No, I'll stay Alyssa. I don't have to—” I heard another scream from Chesca.
“Looks like you need to leave.” she stand up
“No, no. Alyssa, I'm sorry. Please, let's stay here.” I dropped the call
“I'm not leaving.” my phone rings again, shoot I'm doomed.
“Just bring me back to the house, Russell.” she walks outside, shit.
“I'm sorry Rae, I don't know why she keeps on calling. I didn't want to ruin our night.”
“It is what it is, and maybe she really needs you.” When we arrive on the house she immediately get out of the car.
“Don't bother, I can go inside alone. You can go to her.” I sighed and drove away. I'll make it up to her, next time.

When I arrived at Chesca's location, I saw her crying outside.
“What happened?” she immediately hugged me and just keep on crying.
“You should get inside, you need to sleep now.”
“

I don't want to, can you please take me somewhere? Can I sleep at your place tonight? Please?” I immediately shook my head, my heart is pumping fast right now.
“N-no, you can't.” f*ck, I stuttered.
“Why? Its not an issue before, why now? I don't want to stay here please let me stay with you.” she keeps on sobbing, I sighed. I'll have to explain this to Alyssa.
“Fine, but don't get out of the room okay?” she nodded
“Let's go.” I drove back to the house silently, thinking of what to say to Alyssa.
I already ruined our date and now I'm going to bring another woman home? I'm doomed. Sigh.

Luckily when we got home Alyssa, is already asleep.
