Daou POV ( continuous of chapter 17)

"Would you have wanted to?" Offroad asked in a quiet voice not looking up at Daou.

"What?" Daou was taken aback by his question.

"Keep it?"

"Keep what?"

"Our baby?" Offroad said finally looking up at him there was a sadness there that made Daou almost breathless. Daou didn't know what to say, to be honest. "I wanted to keep it,"

"Why?" Daou said without thinking and Offroads face immediately fell.

"I love you," Offroad said with a strange laugh as if Doau should have known already and Daou stopped breathing. "I wanted to keep it because I love you and I want to be with you," Daou could feel himself breathing hard and he was panicking. "Do you love me?" Offroad asked, looking at him with hopeful eyes.

Daou couldn't breathe and couldn't think. He was a lowborne with nothing to his name and even if he did have something Offroad and his father owned it, owned him. Dean was right the baby they lost was a bastard because it came from him. How could anyone want that let alone love that? What kind of life could he provide for him or any future kids? His feelings aside, he was nothing, he had nothing to offer. Love? The omega loved him? Daou didn't even know what that was at the moment.

"Daou?" Offroad called out to him. Daou wasn't going to drag the boy down any further than he had; it was time to cut the cord they had played house for long enough.

"No," Daou said, dropping Offroads hands. His alpha screaming at him internally.

"What?" Offroad said with that same strange laugh.

"I don't love you, and didn't want to keep it," Daou said and immediately felt his alpha roaring on the inside to the point he almost had to grab his head that began throbbing.

"Oh," Offroad said as he pulled his hands from Daou's. "Well then I guess this is a good thing," Offroad laughed and Daou saw the tears running down his face and wanted nothing more than to wipe them away. But if you are going to lie you need to commit.

"I'm sorry," Daou whispered, hoping that on some level it would soften his words and soften the hurt.

"You don't need to apologize to me, we both knew what this was," Offroad said, wiping his own tears away. "Can you go get my dad?" Offroad asked. "Or Ram?" Daous alpha was beating at the inside of his skull. Daou just nodded and ran from the room he needed to get out of there before he did something stupid like declare his love for the boy.

....

Daou sat in his room which was littered with broken furniture and glass. His hands broken and bleeding his feet no better.  Daou had come back to the house and his alpha finally freaked out and broke anything and everything he could get his hands on before collapsing into a sobbing mess. In mere hours he had lost his baby and his omega. He was broken and he deserved to be.

"Oh my dear boy," Daou heard his mother's voice before he felt her arms around him cradling him to his chest as he just sobbed harder. "I'm so sorry," she whispered.

"I can't give him the life he deserves," Daou sobbed, holding on to his mom. "I have nothing to give him,"

"Oh my child what did you do?" His mom asked.

"I let him go," Daou cried out. "I can't take more than I already have from him, it's not fair,"

Daou just sobbed as his mother held him. His heart finally shattering.

...

"Here," Dean said as he tossed keys at him. "That's your new apartment," Dean said as he held out a folder. "HThis has the address and your work information in it," Dean said as Daou took the folder from him, realizing that he and his mom both had shifts to report to.
