Offroad POV
Offroad was slouched in the musty chair. He wanted this day to be over with and thankfully it almost was. He had grown restless hours ago. The auctioneer called for a last bid and Offroad stuck his hand up. He could almost hear the collective grumbles of the bidders around them. The auctioneer repeated himself advising Offroads bid was the highest calling for last bids.
"If you buy them all again your father is going to murder me," Ram whispered in Offroads ear. Money was never an issue with his family.
Offroad could drop millions tonight and his father wouldn't blink an eye. What his father would now be mad about is Offroad trying to save the world again by buying lowbornes, as they were now protected under his house. Which was Offroads' plan all along. His family was in the manufacturing business. Offroad filled those factories with the lowbornes he purchased and if he had to build yet another factory he would. His father was a smart businessman and thankfully he had passed that knowledge onto Offroad.
In the world Offroad knew there were 3 classes of people. Highbornes, these families had all the power and money. More than some knew what to do with it and that led to their ruin. His family along with now 8 others were the only ones considered highbornes. Unfortunately for Offroad, his father was like a King to the highbornes; his mother, a Queen, was a queen. She had passed away when Offroad was little, so that in uncertain words made him a Prince. But nothing about his life was princely.
Lowbornes are those who were born with no money, no power, and no family. Offroad had often wondered what made a lowborne a lowborne to which his father had always replied 'It's just how the world worked.' Then there were those who fell in the middle. The ones who fell in the middle were descendants of highbornes who were just too far away from the "pure" bloodline to actually have any power but they had money. Money seemed like the deciding factor in Offroads' opinion.
The world Offroad knew was vile, cruel, and broken. Because lowbornes were not born into a house of their own they were hunted, captured and sold to the highest bidders to be their workers, their soldiers, their cooks, maids, nannies, or even workers in sex shops. Omegas, like Offroad, were always the first sold to those places. Injected with drugs to mimic their heats so highbornes could experience it once in their life. Highbornes, no matter the subgender you were born with Alpha, Beta, or Omega you could never act on your impulses. Bonding was for the middle class who would breed for fun and to build families. Highbornes bred for a purpose, to continue their lineage and to strengthen the bloodline.
"Sold!" The auctioneer yelled pointing his gavel once again at Offroad the annoyance clear on everyone's face.
"Back again to buy the entire lot?" A deep voice chuckled. Offroad turned to see Harley. The owner of the auction house appeared. He was a disgusting alpha. An illegitimate lowborne doing the bidding of his bastard alpha father Frank.
"We are building a new factory," Offroad shrugged as his security moved in closer, Offroad could take care of himself but Harley, like his father's family, played dirty. Offroad had learned to never let his guard down around anyone in that family.
"You are here almost every week buying us out, that's a lot of factories to fill," he chuckled, lighting a cigar. "Some have stopped showing up venturing to other auction houses to find product,"
"You get paid all the same," Offroad said standing from his chair. "I assume you are here to escort me to my purchases?" Offroad asked, fixing his suit.
"Of course," Harley said with a bowing motion to Offroad to lead the way. Offroad walked towards the back of the showroom, knowing the way like the back of his hand. He would inspect the lot of any sick or weakly looking ones, get his final price, and pay the man. Not that there would ever be one that was too sick or too weak for Offroad. "We had taken the liberty of prescreening a few of the worst ones for you," Harley informed him, causing Offroad to pause in his tracks.
