Motomiya sprang up from his bed as his alarm went off. Today was the day he would officially start his work study. His heart was racing with excitement, and he longed to go to Kaillapse's agency right away.
As he exited his room and rode the elevator down, it stopped on the second floor. When its doors opened, Saionji stepped in, still in her pajamas. The doors closed, and the elevator rumbled as it descended.
"Wanna race to the kitchen?" She asked him.
"Uh... sure?" He replied. As soon as the doors opened, Saionji darted out, wasting no time. Motomiya quickly followed after her, startled by her immediate start.
Though it was just a silly race, he gave his all for it. With each step he took, he brought himself closer and closer to the kitchen, as well as Saionji. His legs moved at an incredible speed as he swiftly sprinted past Saionji and lunged towards the kitchen, beating his classmate.
"Damn, dude," Saionji said as she caught her breath. "How do you run so fast?"
"I've got the experience, I guess?" He responded, also catching his breath.
"What do you mean by that?" She asked.
His heart skipped a beat as he realized what he had said. He didn't want any one of his classmates to know about his past with his old friend group-- which now that he thought about it-- was more like a gang. "Oh, um... from training, you know?" He played off.
"Pfft, obviously," She chuckled. She grabbed a piece of toast and stuffed it in her mouth.
He walked over to Tamakawa, who was lying on a couch with her legs propped up on the back and who was also scrolling mindlessly on her phone. Her ear twitched, hearing the silent approach of her classmate. "Whad'ya want?" She asked, happy to see him.
"I... um," He muttered. He looked down at the ground, ashamed of what he was about to ask. "What do you guys usually do during your work studies?" He asked quietly.
She lifted her legs over the back of the couch and sat normally. "We usually just go on patrol. Occasionally, we fight some villains, but Mirko usually has us evacuating people and acting as backup."
He nodded in response. "Thanks. I just want to be prepared for today, you know?"
"Oh, shit! You have your first day today!" Tamakawa exclaimed. "You'll do great. Just don't be like Shima when he had his first day."
"What happened on his first day?" He asked her.
"Oh my God, so, this idiot thinks that he's all tough and already a pro hero, so he decides to go wandering off. Then, the idiot goes and gets himself lost! Mirko had to call the cops on him because we couldn't find him! Wanna know where we found him?"
"Yeah," Motomiya answered, a smile of amusement starting to spread across his face.
"A fucking McDonald's!" Tamakawa shouted.
"I was hungry, okay?" Shima said from behind the couch, having listened in to their conversation.
"Oh, 'sup, dipshit," Tamakawa said as she turned to see Shima standing behind her.
"'Sup, fuckface," He answered. "Everyone knows that you would've done the exact same thing if you got hungry," He added.
"At least I didn't ditch patrol for some Micky D's," She chuckled with a smile, one of her sharp teeth sticking out.
"At least I didn't realize my friend was gone after an hour had already passed," Shima countered.
"Oh yeah, well, at least my ego wasn't as fat as yours," She said back.
