Namjoon I have a friend I'd like you to meet.
Yoongi raised an eyebrow as he read the message.
Yoongi Okay...
Namjoon He's a fellow producer of mine. He wouldn't have any say in if you'd get a job offer, but he's curious about you.
Yoongi Okay...
Namjoon laughed to himself.
Namjoon Full disclosure, we do work together, but he's actually my best friend. Would you be okay with meeting him?
Yoongi You want me to meet your best friend?
Namjoon Yeah. Is that weird?
Yoongi No, not at all. I just thought you and I were going to get together again soon. You know, to get to know each other a little better.
There was a pause and Yoongi furrowed his brow when he didn't get a response. Had that sounded too forward? He truly wasn't against meeting Namjoon's friend. But, he'd hoped to be able to spend some time with Namjoon again, just the two of them.
Yoongi I mean, since we may end up working together, haha
He bit his thumbnail. Would the damage control work? After a couple more long minutes, his phone chimed.
Namjoon I'm okay with that.
Yoongi smiled as he let out a sigh of relief. Then, at the thought of actually meeting up with Namjoon, butterflies erupted in his stomach.
Namjoon Wanna grab some coffee?
Yoongi Sure. When?
Namjoon Now?
Yoongi's eyebrows shot up. He looked at the clock on his phone. 7:30 PM. He knew he worked the early shift at work the next day, but, he supposed, one cup of coffee wouldn't keep him up too late, right?
Yoongi Sure.
Namjoon replied with an address and Yoongi quickly took to getting dressed. He was still in his work uniform, and there was no way he was going to meet Namjoon in that again.
-
Yoongi nervously stood outside of the cafe, delaying going in. 'What are you doing?' he thought to himself. 'You're the one who asked for this.' Eventually he sighed and pulled the door open.
And there was Namjoon, who had immediately looked over at the door when it opened. A bright smile broke out on his face when he saw Yoongi. Yoongi groaned internally.
'Dimples.'
Yoongi forced his legs to move toward Namjoon. "Hey," he said, hoping his voice didn't sound as nervous as he felt.
"Hey! It's good to see you again!" Namjoon replied as he stood.
"You, too."
"What would you like to drink?"
Yoongi's eyes widened slightly. "I'll order it."
"Nah, on me," Namjoon replied.
"I – "
"What would you like?"
Yoongi sighed in defeat. "Iced Americano."
"Coming right up!"
Yoongi sat down as he watched Namjoon walk toward the counter to order. He hadn't planned on Namjoon buying his drink.
When Namjoon returned, Yoongi quietly thanked him.
"No problem," Namjoon replied. "So, what else do I need to know about you?"
Yoongi swallowed thickly. "Um, well... I have an older brother. He still lives in Daegu."
Namjoon smiled. "I have a younger sister. She's stayed closer to home, too."
They both sat there, thinking of what else to say.
"I have a dog," Yoongi blurted.
Namjoon laughed slightly. "Oh, yeah?"
Yoongi blushed. "Yeah, he's at home with my parents, but he's the best."
Namjoon smiled again.
'DIMPLES!'
"I don't have any pets. I'd like one, but I just don't think I'd be able to properly care for one since I work a lot."
Yoongi nodded. "That's why mine stayed with my parents. I didn't think I could handle the responsibility here in Seoul."
They stared at each other until Namjoon finally spoke again. "At the risk of sounding cliché, what's your favorite color?"
Yoongi chuckled. "White."
Namjoon raised an eyebrow. "White?"
"Yeah. It's the sum of all colors in physics, and I love the idea of that."
"That's really interesting and cool."
"So, what's yours?"
Namjoon considered this. "I like black and pink."
Yoongi looked surprised. "Opposite ends of the spectrum."
Namjoon chuckled. "Yeah, I suppose so."
And that was how their conversation continued, going back and forth with random questions. From introspective to cheesy, they asked questions that slowly began allowing them to learn more about each other. By the time they decided to leave, it was 11:00 and they'd had at least five coffees each.
"Well," Namjoon said after checking his watch. "I'm going to be up for the rest of the night at this point."
Yoongi smirked slightly. "Yeah, same."
"Worth it, though," Namjoon said with a smile.
Yoongi blushed slightly. "Agreed."
"I had a really great time tonight," Namjoon admitted. "You're a really interesting person, Yoongi."
Yoongi's blush deepened. "You are, as well."
"Well, I should probably get going," Namjoon said. And Yoongi couldn't be sure, but he thought he detected a bit of regret in Namjoon's voice.
"Same. But hey, maybe next time we get together, I can meet your friend."
Namjoon smiled again. "I'd like that."
They walked out of the cafe together and before they headed in opposite directions, Namjoon rubbed the back of his neck and asked, "Maybe we could get together again tomorrow? Maybe we could meet after my friend and I get off work. I mean, if you're available, of course."
Yoongi's heart began beating a bit faster. Namjoon wanted to get together again so soon? He was okay with that.
"Yeah, I work the early shift, so I'll be available."
Namjoon grinned.
'Dimples. Should be illegal.'
"I'll text you to figure out details."
"Sounds great."
"Have a good rest of your night," Namjoon said. "Hopefully you can get some sleep."
Yoongi sighed. "Yeah, hopefully. Good luck to you getting some, too."
"Goodnight, Yoongi."
"Goodnight, Namjoon."
