The hum of fluorescent lights and the quiet click of keyboards filled the air. Jeff focused on the documents spread across his desk, trying to ignore the pair of eyes burning into him from across the room.Bible leaned against the doorframe of Jeff's office, arms crossed, a smirk playing on his lips. “Working hard or hardly working, Mr. Jeff?”
Jeff rolled his eyes but couldn’t hide the small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. “Some of us actually have to work to get ahead, Mr. Professional.”
Bible stepped inside, closing the door behind him. His voice dropped to a teasing murmur. “I remember you working quite hard last night.”
Jeff’s cheeks flushed, his eyes darting to the glass walls of his office. “Careful, Bible. People talk.”
Bible leaned closer, hands resting on Jeff’s desk, his gaze intense. “Let them. Maybe they’ll finally figure out why you’re blushing so much.”
Jeff swallowed, trying to maintain composure. “You really should go back to your office.”
Bible grinned, straightening up. “Only if you promise to have lunch with me.”
Jeff raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms. “What makes you think I’ll say yes?”
Bible walked to the door, pausing with his hand on the knob. He glanced back, eyes sparkling with mischief. “Because you always do.”
Jeff watched him leave, his heart pounding in his chest. This was dangerous—flirting at work—but he couldn’t deny the thrill that came with it.
A few minutes later, a message popped up on his computer screen:
Bible: Don’t forget our lunch.
Jeff: I didn’t agree yet.
Bible: Meet me at 1 PM in the lobby. Unless you want me to drag you there.Jeff’s fingers hesitated over the keyboard, his heart racing. He could practically hear Bible’s teasing voice in those words.
Jeff stepped out of the elevator, smoothing his shirt. Bible was waiting, leaning against the marble wall, that familiar smirk on his face.
“Punctual. I like that,” Bible drawled, his eyes scanning Jeff from head to toe.
Jeff rolled his eyes, trying to play it cool. “Don’t push your luck.”
Bible leaned in closer as they walked out of the building. “Oh, but pushing my luck is what I do best.”
Their fingers brushed briefly, sending a jolt through Jeff. He pulled his hand away quickly, but the flush on his cheeks betrayed him.
Seated at a quiet corner table, Bible watched Jeff intently. “You’re not eating.”
Jeff poked at his food. “Distracted.”
Bible’s voice softened, eyes searching Jeff’s. “Thinking about me?”
Jeff scoffed, trying to mask his nerves. “You wish.”
Bible leaned closer, his voice a low whisper. “I know.”
Jeff’s breath caught in his throat. The tension between them was suffocating, but neither of them moved away. Bible reached across the table, his fingers brushing Jeff’s
"Its not good ” Jeff murmured, almost to himself.
Bible’s eyes darkened, his thumb tracing circles on Jeff’s wrist. “Then why does it feel so right?”
Jeff didn’t have an answer.
They continued eating, the tension thick between them. Jeff finally broke the silence, his fork pausing mid-air.
