The courtroom was tense, the air thick with anticipation as Jeff and Megan faced each other. Bible sat a few rows back, his presence steady and supportive, his gaze never leaving Jeff. The judge entered, and everyone rose before the proceedings began.
Megan’s lawyer was the first to speak, presenting her case with precision. “Your Honor, we contend that my client, Megan, is the biological mother of Izzy and that Mr. Jeffrey satur is not the biological father. Therefore, she seeks full custody, as the biological connection lies elsewhere.”
Jeff’s lawyer stood, countering firmly, “Your Honor, while biology may be in question, it is indisputable that Mr. Satur has been the sole caregiver for Izzy since her birth. He has provided her with love, stability, and a home. My client requests that the court prioritize the child’s emotional well-being over unverified claims.”
The judge turned toward Megan. “Ms. Megan, do you have proof that Mr. Satur is not Izzy’s biological father?”
Megan glanced at Jeff before speaking, her voice calm yet firm. “I do not have DNA evidence yet, Your Honor. However, Izzy was conceived shortly after a brief reconciliation with Mr. Mile, who I believe to be her biological father.”
Jeff’s jaw tightened, his fists clenching beneath the table. Bible’s eyes narrowed, his protective instincts kicking in as he watched the exchange.
The judge raised an eyebrow. “Without concrete proof, this court cannot make decisions based on speculation. To ensure fairness and clarity, I am ordering a DNA test to determine the biological parentage of the child.”
Jeff felt the air leave his lungs, his heart pounding. He glanced back at Bible, who gave him a small nod of encouragement.
“Your Honor,” Jeff’s lawyer interjected, “while we comply with the DNA test, we request that Mr. Saturs retain temporary custody of Izzy until the results are presented.”
The judge nodded. “Temporary custody will remain with Mr. SaturWe will reconvene once the DNA results are ready. Court is adjourned.”
The sound of the gavel echoed through the room, and Jeff exhaled deeply, his body trembling with a mix of fear and determination.
As people began to leave, Megan approached Jeff, her expression unreadable. “I’m not doing this to hurt you, Jeff. I’m doing what’s best for Izzy.”
Jeff’s voice was sharp, his eyes blazing. “Best for Izzy? She doesn’t need this chaos in her life, Megan. She needs stability, love, and the father who’s been there for her every single day.”
Megan sighed, stepping back. “We’ll see what the results say.”
Jeff turned away, unable to listen anymore. Bible was by his side in an instant, his hand resting on Jeff’s shoulder.
“Let’s go home,” Bible said gently.
As they left the courtroom, Jeff’s mind raced with a thousand thoughts. But one thing remained clear—no matter what the DNA test revealed, he would fight with everything he had to keep Izzy.
The courtroom was silent, the tension so thick it was hard to breathe. Jeff sat at the defendant’s table, his heart pounding as he glanced toward the plaintiff's side. Megan was seated there, her expression unreadable. Izzy sat beside her, holding a stuffed bunny, her small fingers clinging to its ears.
Bible sat behind Jeff, his steady gaze fixed on the proceedings, silently offering his unwavering support. Jeff’s lawyer stood, addressing the judge as the DNA results were handed over.
“Your Honor,” the lawyer said, “the results of the DNA test have been reviewed. They indicate that Mr. Satur is not the biological father of Izzy.”
