It was early. 7:00 am to be exact. Wesley told me not to get up and say goodbye, but I never listened to his nonsense. I took my coffee and sat on my porch watching Cody, Bree, and Wesley pack their things into their cars. Bree chose to ride with Wesley, which was probably a smart decision considering things with her dad were still bad.

Fifteen minutes had gone by and Cody announced they'd be leaving soon to get on the road. I put my coffee down and walked towards the middle of the road. Wesley came near me with his hands in his pockets.

"You never listen to me," he smiled. "So hey listen, take care, and..." he started choking on his words. I hugged him tight and whispered "you don't ever have to be alone, I'm always a text, or a call away." His smell, I was never going to forget how amazing he smelled. I let go so he could get in his car. I walked over and gave Bree a hug and told her the same thing as Wesley. I also told her to stay out of trouble, but who knows if she'll listen to me. I was getting ready to walk back to my driveway and see them off until Cody stopped me.

"Thank you for everything, you're like a daughter to me, I love you kid," he said hugging me tighter than Wesley did. "You take care."

I watched as they drove away. I still couldn't believe this was happening. I walked up the first step when I heard a loud screech of brakes down the street. It was Wesley's truck. I looked and saw that he was talking to his dad. Car troubles already? I waited to see and make sure they were okay. He smiled real big and began walking towards the back of his truck, he looked at me, and looked at his dad once more. His dad gave him "the nod." He pulled something out of his bag, and walked back in my direction. Maybe he took something of mine and realized he had to return it?

"Mariah! Rye!" He shouted. I was worried. I ran across the lawn and met him half way.

"Wes, what's going on?"

He smiled real big and got down on one knee, and opened up a small box, with a rare looking ring.

"Marry me! Well, someday." "Mariah McKinney you're the only one I want to be with today, and tomorrow, and forever. I promise to take care of you wherever our lives may take us. I promise to have tickle fights every night, long talks by the stream, and endless laughs of whatever comes to mind. I lime you, I love you Rye."

I stood in awe of what had been presented to me before such an ungodly hour. My eyes were so full of tears, that I could barely see Wes. I looked at his dad and Bree in the distance. They were both smiling at us. All I could do was shake my head obnoxiously until the word yes finally popped out of my mouth.

"Stand up, so I can kiss you," I said. Wesley stood up and I laid the biggest, wettest kiss on his lips. He picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist.

"Yes!" I said.

"Yes?!" He asked excitedly.

"Yes!!!" I shouted. I continued to kiss him, and he was smiling so big that it just became awkward. He put me down and we laughed. Cody was walking towards us, and Wesley grabbed my hand.

"Well, I'm ashamed that my son gave you a ring with a diamond you can barely see, but he's reassured me that there's purpose and meaning behind the ring. Can I trust you to take care of my son Mariah?" Cody asked.

"Yes, sir," I said confidently. I squeezed Wesley's hand tighter. This was all surreal. Wesley's timing was never good, but always perfect.

"Are you staying too?" I asked Bree.

"No, I'm gonna spend time with my dad, and take care of him and make sure he's okay," Bree said smiling at Cody. "Besides, you're practically family now, I can always call you when I get in trouble," she laughed.

"Yes you can, I love you babe," I said holding her hand too.

Bree and Cody left and headed in the direction of Alaska. Wesley moved his truck in my driveway, his new home for the next seven months. We both went back to bed because we were extremely tired. I laid with him and he was sound asleep. I was wide awake thinking about the moment that just took place, and looking at the small ring on my finger. It was ugly, but the symbolism and agony it took to get it made it special. I didn't know where life was going to take us in the next several months, but I knew that none of it matter, because as long as I had Wes, I didn't need anything more.

"Hey," Wesley said.

"Yeah?" I propped my head up to see him.

"I forgot to tell you last night, you're my best friend too," he smiled.

I didn't move or say a thing. I wanted to capture this moment and title it P.S. I lime you.
