"Hey," Mac said as she knocked on my door. "It's 6:45, shouldn't you be up and dressed by now?"
"Thanks mom, but I don't feel like going to school today," I told Mac.
"I'll go turn on your shower okay?" Mac said making sure I heard her.
"Thanks." Great. Now I had to get up. Why was I blessed with such a good sister? I rolled out of bed, and the time was now 7:00. School started at 7:45, and it took me twenty minutes to get there. I was in no rush, until I got a text from Bree. She asked me if I could take her to school today. I told her we weren't leaving till 7:30, and that we'd be late, but that was better than not going to school at all. Now I had to rush. Luckily the shower was hot by the time I got into it. I asked Mac if she could put my books in my bag, and make my lunch. By the time I put my makeup and clothes on it was 7:28. Bree was sitting on my couch waiting for me.
"Whoa! You're not doing your hair today?" Mac asked, referring to the sopping mop I had for hair on my head.
"No time, love you, bye," I said as Bree and I rushed out the door.
Bree and I got in the car, and she was silent. She was blinded by the sun, so I put the visor down to shield her eyes.
"Thanks," she said.
"Sorry we're late, I just didn't feel like getting out of bed today," I said.
"I know, me too."
I focused on the road and barely turned the music up. I waited for something, anything to talk about, but my mind was blank. She wasn't even pretending to text, which made things even weirder in the car.
"So how do you like Shane?" I asked.
"Huh?" She replied. She heard me, she just wanted me to spell it out for her.
"Your new tutor, how's that going?" I asked.
"Oh. Yeah. Um, it's fine. He's too, like he explains things way too much and I'm still lost half the time," she said not finishing her sentence.
"I can always help you," I offered.
"No, it's okay. You can pull up right here, I have to talk to Miss Garrec anyway. Thanks for the ride," Bree said.
"Hey Bree, what lunch period do you have?" I asked before she left the car.
"Fifth period," she said.
"Do you want to go out for lunch?" I asked, hoping to ask her a few questions.
"Won't I get in trouble?" She asked.
"It'll be our little secret," I said with a smile.
"Uh, yeah, I'll text you when I'm out of class, thanks," she said walking to the office doors.
I pulled over to the other side of the parking lot and parked in the faculty. English had been half way over, but I knew Mrs. Parr wouldn't mind me walking in late with a valid dentist appointment excuse. I already had the forged signature note my mom "supposedly" wrote. I walked in with a smile, until I noticed that we had another sub. It was Mr. Shec. I hated him. I walked up to him in the middle of his lecture and handed him the note, and went to a seat in the back.
"Alright everybody get going on page 35, and I'll be available for questions if you need me," Mr. Shec said. He walked over all conceited like with his fancy black dress shirt and his purple tie on.
"What did you have done at the dentist?" He asked.
"Just some dental work," I said with a fake smile. I turned my book to page 35, and started to read it, pretending he wasn't hovering over me.
