Chapter 40

Jace came running towards me down the hall, skidding to a stop as I took a couple steps back in case he misjudged when he needed to stop. He then pointed at me shouting, "I need an assistant!" I stood there staring at him for a moment, my brows furrowing in confusion. "I need ... a detective assistant." He said in between gasps.

I blinked, "Huh? For what? Someone die?" I questioned, glancing around as if expecting more people to come running around the corner.

Jace shook his head, "Worse ... someone framed Vasco for stealing!" He exclaimed before pointing at me, "I need your help."

I blinked at him, crossing my arms, "Eh, I'm bored anyway." I shrugged as I followed Jace. "So ... what did he exactly "steal"?" I question, using my fingers as air quotations.

"A girl's wallet." Jace replied, "It happened during Kian84's lecture, meaning the person that did it didn't attend, like myself."

"Which means everyone in Block B is a suspect, wouldn't that make me one of them? I skipped that lecture too." I say, pointing to myself, brows furrowing.

"I trust you, plus setting people up isn't your style." Jace stated as he slipped on a yellow plaid jacket. "Now let's question our first suspect!"

"We can just divide and conquer." I say, looking at him with a blank stare. "I'm going to the music and fashion department." I say with a dismissive wave as I left him behind to question the others.

I went to my department first, approaching Yui, "So, why did you skip the lecture?" I questioned, slamming my hand down on the desk causing her to jump, nearly burning herself on the flat iron.

Yui turned to look at me with an annoyed expression, "Ugh, I got sick so I stayed in the classroom. Why do you care?" She rolled her eyes as she went back to straightening her hair.

I leaned on the desk crossing my arms, "Did you leave the classroom at any time?"

Yui let out a huff, "The only time I left is to go to the nurse and the bathroom to wash my face." She spoke with a snotty tone.

I glared down at her, making her flinch, "Is that all?"

"Yes! Now back off creep- ow!" Yui flinched as I bumped her arm, causing her finger to touch her straightener. "I got pills from the hospital to-"

"Yeah yeah, I get it." I rolled my eyes as I walked away, moving on to the next person which was Zack, who was asleep. I tap his shoulder, "Hey." He didn't budge, so I shoved him hard onto the ground, waking him up.

"The fuck!? Oh it's you." Zack huffed as he got up off the floor, "What so important you had to wake me up?" He says as he sits back in his chair, wiping the drool off his chin.

"Hey so Vasco is apparently being framed, you know anything?" I question as I cross my arms.

Zack, who was still waking up, mumbled, "What? Vasco? A thief? I knew that fucker was up to no good." I rolled my eyes as I watched him lay his head back down. I flicked his ear, "Ow alright! I was just sleeping, but there was this loud noise that woke me up."

"Wow, something was able to wake you up?" I say with a sarcastic tone earning a glare from him. 

"Go away, I'm going back to sleep." Zack grumbled, laying his head back down. I rolled my eyes as I turned my back to him.

"I don't know about the loud noise." Yui spoke, gaining my attention. "But I did hear Duke singing in the toilet as I washed my face." My brows furrowed, confused. I'm pretty sure Duke was at the lecture, I remember him and Daniel walking back to class.
