Chapter 8

The music pounded in my ears as my steps matched the beat, as I jogged along the sidewalk with Lola trotting at my side. My head has gotten better and I don't feel as dizzy when I stand up. So this morning I thought a light jog would be good, nothing too fast like my usual runs. I tried asking Goo and Gun to join me but they didn't answer their door when I knocked, my guess is they were still sleeping.

I then noticed a couple familiar figures out of the corner of my eye, looking over to find out it was Vasco and Little Daniel. Smiling, I changed my course slowing down to a walk as I approached them as the two were still talking to one another, slipping an earphone out of my ear. I kept Lola firmly at my side as I approached, making sure she wouldn't jump them or anything. "Without effort, you cannot just change your body in a day." I hear Vasco say.

"That's true. It's impossible unless you're a shapeshifter or something." I interjected, gaining the two's attention. I smile warmly waving at Little Daniel, "Hi Little Daniel. Long time no see." He smiled as well, giving me a small wave.

"You're working out too (Y/N)?" Vasco questioned as he placed his hands on his hips with a bright smile on his features.

"Wait ... should you be working out with that head injury?" Little Daniel asked as he adjusted his oval glasses, a worried look shining in his black eyes as he gestured to my head with his hand.

I waved my hand as I spoke, loosening my grip on Lola's leash, "I'm only going for a little jog that's all. I'll be alright, my head stopped spinning yesterday." I stated as Lola went up to Vasco who crouched down and began to pet her. "Are you two working out together?" I asked, looking between the two, noticing Little Daniel was drenched in sweat.

"Oh, yea. I asked Vasco to help get me in shape after he offered once." Little Daniel replied as he sat down on a wooden platform. "But it's only been three days since we started. Speaking of which, do you work out every day Vasco?" Little Daniel questioned, looking over to the guy now speaking in a baby voice to Lola.

Vasco cleared his throat as he stood back up straight before saying in his usual tone, putting a straw in his chocolate milk carton, "I do 100 pushups, 100 sit ups, 100 squats, and a 10km run." I blinked at him along with Little Daniel, what idiot gave him that idea?

"Vasco~" All three of us turned our heads to see Jace. "There you are. G'morning." He spoke in a cheerful tone seeing Vasco, seeming to have been jogging as well considering his stance.

"Ho ho Jace! Did you use telepathy to find me?" Vasco questioned to which I furrowed my brows, casting a confused glance at Little Daniel who just shrugged in response.

"Huh!? Yeah sure!" Jace merely responded with a smile. "I just guessed you'd be here." He beamed before he glanced in Little Daniel's direction before looking in my direction, seeming surprised. "Didn't expect to see you here, especially with your injury and all." Jace stated as he walked up to me, ruffling Lola's head as she panted happily.

"I was only out for a jog is all. Something small. I got bored waiting around at home." I replied with a shrug, "But now knowing you guys work out here I might come here more often." I beam, Goo and Gun have been far too busy to work out with me lately, resulting in me just hanging around at home and doing some workouts in my small apartment. Or of course going on a jog around the block or something, I came here to the park cause it was dog friendly.

Jace's smile fell to a soft frown, not seeming too excited about the idea causing me to blink at him confused, though he would love the ideas with us being friends and all. I then heard him sigh as he walked past me towards Little Daniel. "Hey!" He shouted to gain Little Daniel's attention. "You're still doing it." Jace stated sounding a bit ... aggressive I guess to put it. It's just his tone really, what is up with him? I glanced at Vasco who was drinking his chocolate milk, hoping to find an answer from him but he was looking at the monkey bars dazing off.
