DINNER WAS excruciatingly awkward. first, y/n and rintaro arrived at the same time, and fashionably late. y/n wore a black skirt with an asymmetrical off the shoulder top. suna wore a red dress shirt paired with a black blazer and dress pants.
as the two reached the door together, y/n was about to ring the doorbell when rintaro also approached the door. he looked her up and down before complimenting her outfit.
"you look good" he commented. y/n jumped and put a hand over her heart. "jesus, you scared me" she breathed out heavily. "yeah? my bad" he chuckled.
ever since rintaro came to the realization that he liked y/n, he made sure to turn his flirtatious nature on. y/n gave him a side eye and pressed the door bell.
she thought about complimenting him back considering he did look good.
"you look good too" she relied. rintaros eyes widened in response, and before he could say anything the door opened. "y/n, rintaro! come in, come in! did you two come here together?" mrs l/n asked.
"hi mom. no, we didn't. we just happened to get here at the same time" y/n said, taking off her heels. "hello, mrs l/n" rintaro said, graciously taking her hand and bringing it to his forehead.
"why hello there rintaro. you clean up well" she complimented, smoothening out his blazer. "jeez mom, he's not a baby" y/n sighed.
the three of them walked into the living room and greeted the other two parents. "hello" y/n smiled, sitting down next to her parents. rintaro sat next to his parents and her dad got them both a drink.
y/n got her usual, a rum and coke, and suna got his usual whiskey. "so, you two. did you arrive together?" mrs suna asked. "no. we happened to get here at the same time" rintaro replied.
he quietly thanked mr l/n for his drink and looked at y/n. "oh. that's a shame. so, what have you been up to recently?" mrs suna asked. "not much besides university. i've picked up a few modelling jobs here and there" y/n replied.
"very impressive y/n. how has school been? you are in your third year, correct? it must be challenging" his father commented. "not too hard but definitely not easy"
rintaro stared at the girl while she spoke to his parents. the way she talked to them so effortlessly had him in a trance.
mrs l/n saw this and smiled to herself.
"dinner is ready" the maid said.
everyone stood up with their drinks and made their way to the dining room. y/n and suna sat across from each other.
while they ate it was quiet, almost tense. like everyone knew about the elephant in the room, but didn't want to address it.
"why don't we address the matter at hand" mr l/n smiled. "father, please do not" y/n sighed, cutting into her steak. "but we must, it is what we're all gathered here for after all" mrs l/n said.
