After returning home, I unlock the front door as quietly as possible. I close the door and lock it and turn around to see my siblings with their arms crossed, waiting for me like the creepy dolls at an antique store.
"Where were you?" Carly asks with a glare.
"Sleeping over my friend's house," I somewhat say honestly.
"Who?" Camron glares.
"Hannah," I lie.
"Really?" Carly asks.
"Yes, now get off my case," I say annoyed.
"Well I snapped Hannah and Joanna and the said you were no where to be found," Camron snaps.
"So, where were you?" Carly sneers.
"They were probably just lying," I lie and roll my eyes, "I was over there."
"Read and weep," Camron says and shows me a screen shot.
A chat log between him and Joanna.
Camron: *where's tf is Callie?"*
Joanna: *idk probably with her fling lol, tell the bitch she can kill herself btw*
"I was with them!" I lie.
"Look," Carly says and shows me a chat log between her and Hannah.
Carly: *have u seen Callie? It's late and she's not back*
Hannah: *no, Joanna told me they had a fight and I haven't heard from them since. Have you tried calling her she won't answer me but it goes to voicemail after a while so it means she's not with her phone*
Carly: *thanks, good night*
"I don't know what they were talking about," I lie through my teeth, "we were all together watching movies."
The glare at me even harder and I feel the sweats begin to drop down my face, "fine, I slept in my car." I can't tell them where I really was, if you have any better ideas then telepathically let me know!
Their expressions change to ones of confusion and concern, meaning my lie is working. Rule one in lying: keep your story straight, never add more information than what is necessary.
"Why?" Camron asks.
Rule two of lying: A twisted truth is still a true. "Last night, I went to the football game but Joanna's older brother was gonna let me in for free but he had other intentions." They gasp and Carly even overs her mouth, horrified by what she hears, "luckily, I got away and hide underneath the bleachers. Joanna say me and asked me what happened. I said I almost got raped by her brother and she didn't side with me. That's how we had our fight. I ran to my car and cried there until I fell asleep."
"Oh my goodness," Carly gasps, "Callie!" She cries and hugs me.
"Why are you in pajamas?" Camron asks.
Rule three: When asked about an oddly specific detail, give an oddly specific answer. "I had some in a shopping bag in my car."
"I'm glad you're okay," Camron says.
Carly releases me from her tight embrace, "dad is still asleep, I don't think he's noticed yet."
"Okay, thanks," I smile.
My successful lie has passed over their heads and I'm in the clear. Sure, I feel bad about lying to my siblings, but that's a part of what happened last night so technically I only lied on where I went. I quietly go upstairs and sneak into my room. It's the same as when I left it. A mess. It's like a crazy person smeared shit all over the bathroom of an Applebees (which was a real thing that happened a long time ago!). I pick up some stuff off the floor and throw it into my closet, otherwise known as the dumping ground.
