I park my car and step on out the parking lot and hold onto my phone. The wind blows cold air I pull my selves of my sweatshirt over my hands. I walk through the parking lot that's in a pine tree forest and see Miguel standing there, looking like he witnessed a murder. I stop walking and we just stare, mine of confusion and his of pure awe.
"What?" I ask.
"You look pretty," he smiles.
"You're trying to hard," I roll my eyes and walk up to him. He's in a jacket, prepared for the New England weather unlike me, "thanks."
I hug him and half to stand on my toes just to get a little higher, "You cold?"
"No," I lie.
"Here," he says and takes off his jacket, "take this."
"I'm not cold," I lie again and back away.
He's holding a smug expression on his charming face, "Tú eres tiene fría."
I think about what he said, "no, no estoy tengo fría."
"Put it on," he smiles.
"Fine," I say and take it, feeling defeated.
"Why do you lie? You'll get sick," he says.
"I'm used to the weather," I say and put on the big, fluffy jacket then we walk down the path.
"But you'll still get sick," he says.
"What, did your Abeula teach you that?" I laugh.
"Actually she did," he smiles, "she always said, "cuando hace frío, tú necesitas una chaqueta."'
We walk through the forest and see the beautiful trees whose pines sway gently in the wind, "you said we don't know each other enough, let's learn." He smiles that smug look.
"What?"
"You said that we've only know each other for a week, which is true, but I'm extremely drawn to you and I want to know you more," he says.
"Thanks for the honesty," I mutter and blush, "what do you want to know?"
"Everything about you," he answers
"Okay." I say and think, "my name is Callie, I'm 17 years old and I'll be 18 on Christmas Day."
"You were born on Christmas Day?" He asks surprised.
"Yeah, the middle of the night too," I laugh, "well my favorite food is churros and my favorite color is blue. My biggest pet peeve is someone who is big-headed and my favorite thing is one someone leaves me alone. That's pretty much it."
"Well I'm Miguel, my friends and family call me Miguelito for some reason when I'm literally twice their size. I was born in September so I'm already 18. My favorite food is shrimp and my favorite color is blue, but the kind of blue that your eyes are like, you know?" He says.
"Like, light blue?" I ask.
"Yeah," he smiles, "my biggest pet peeve is also a big-headed person and I love to deflate their egos. And I also love when people leave me alone, but only people I don't know," he says, "I like to weight lift in my free time and I like to go to the beach."
"In my free time I like to practice for diving and sleep-"
"You're a diver, that's cool," he says.
"Yeah, the only sport I'm really good at." I laugh.
"I'll have to see you dive some time," he says with a small smile.
"Thanks," I return the same small but grateful smile, "I like to listen to music, watch sitcoms and read."
