Chapter Eleven, Escaped Creatures
Previously on Unconditional Love:
"And you are?" Lisette asked when the woman made no move to introduce herself. "What's that thing in your case?" She asked instead. "That's my Niffler." Newt replied. "Erm, you've got something on your—" Lisette hedged carefully, rubbing at her top lip. "Why in the name of deliverance Dane did you both let that thing loose?" the woman asked in a put-upon voice, not getting what Lisette meant.
"We didn't mean to." Newt apologised. "He's incorrigible, you see. Anything shiny, he's all over—" "You didn't mean to?" The woman asked incredulously, looking from Newt to Lisette with an eyebrow raised. "No." Lisette and Newt replied. "You could not have chosen a worse time to let that creature loose." "Hey!" Lisette protested as a fierce protective streak rose its head within her. She did not like anyone belittling or treating Newt like crap.
"We didn't choose anything! Teddy escaped out of the case when the Muggle tripped over it and headed into the bank because of the gold strewn into the floors and doors! Nifflers are like Magpies." But yet again she's ignored. "We're in the middle of a situation here!" The woman protested hotly. "I'm taking you both in."
