Three Days Later | 04/17/21

Harmony reclined on the couch with one leg crossed over the other as she held a partially empty glass of wine. She gently swirled the wine, her gaze distant and unfocused, seemingly lost in thought as she tuned out everything around her.

"Harmony? You hea' me, bitch?" Remedy snapped her fingers at her to eventually capture her attention after she noticed Harmony was no longer engaged in the conversation.

"Um, yeah." Harmony lied, shaking away her many swirling thoughts that clouded her thoughts completely.

"Okay. Well, you know yo birthday comin' up, so do you know..."

And there it happened again, Harmony tuning out Remedy when her thoughts returned, a low sigh of overthinking escaping her lips as she thought about everything that bothered her the past three days.

For starters, the memory unfolded vividly before her eyes when Kris finally confessed her feelings for Torah. The weight of that conversation echoed in her mind ever since it happened. How could Kris have hidden her desire for so long, especially for someone Harmony had shared intimacy with? It felt like a betrayal, a breach of trust that bound their family; three months of silence had left her feeling blindsided.

Secondly, she thought about her choices with getting involved with Torah. The thought of their entangled relationship probed at her conscience, planting seeds of doubt about its impact on their professional dynamics. She feared that it would complicate their work environment and that the one incident that happened because of their dynamic wouldn't be the last.

Despite her internal moral compass urging her to reconsider, she felt unusually weak when it came to him. Confusion washed over her as she thought about how she enjoyed being in his presence, the way he understood her needs, both intellectually and physically, yet simultaneously feared the chaos that could result from crossing the line they had already crossed.

Speaking of Torah, it had been three days since she last heard from him, which was unusual since she'd reached out each day for intercourse. But three days felt like a lifetime, the longest they had ever gone without having sex.

"Remedy?" Harmony abruptly called out with her gaze still in the distance while her mind pondered and heart fluttered from anxiety.

"What? It's about something I said?" Remedy questioned, causing Harmony to soft chuckle since she had no idea about anything she'd said the past five minutes.

"To be honest, I wasn't even listening to you. I was in my head thinking about stuff." Harmony confessed, smiling when Remedy laughed.

"And that is? Whatchu been thinkin' 'bout?" Remedy replied, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion as she stared at Harmony.

"Kris. Von. My relationships with them both. The uncertainty of one and the consequences of the other." Harmony vented, a weary sigh leaving her lips as she continued to stare into space.
