I cut the Uruk's head in front of me, running towards Haldir and sheathing my swords to instead pull out two daggers. Spinning around and flicking my wrist, one flies into the Uruk behind him, falling dead, the other I stab through the neck of an Uruk approaching from my side.
My heart pounds furiously as I pull it out and sheathe it, running towards Haldir, his eyes trained solely on me as I approach, the light slowly leaving him as his body falls.
"Haldir!" I shout again when I reach him, collapsing to my knees as I gasp for breath at the sight before me.
Aragorn is there less than a second before I am, catching his head before he falls. I cradle Haldir's face in my hands, dirt and Orc blood splattered across them.
"No-no-no-no-no!" I say quickly, scanning his face, tears pooling in my eyes as I take in his now lifeless form. His eyes stare wide and unmoving to the sky above as my tears fall onto his face. "Haldir...Haldir, please..."
Aragorn then has to drop him, his sword raised as he stands and he tackles the enemy behind me, but I grab Haldir when he does, laying him gently in the ground.
He doesn't deserve this. He doesn't.
He came here because of me. He came here for me.
"Amariel!" Aragorn shouts to me, his sword clashing with Uruk axes and spears. "Amariel nid aenon!"
(Amariel we must go!)"Hiro cin hîdh ab 'wanath." I whisper with a brief kiss to Haldir's lips, the only kiss I have ever given him.
(May you find peace after death.)I then lean forward and grab my dagger from the Uruk that killed him, turning on my feet and running to Aragorn who kills our way to a ladder.
He punches through a gap in the step, knocking off the Orc there and turning, a hand outstretched to me as he pushes off the wall and I jump the distance to reach him, two steps behind. He grabs my arm and pulls me forward, holding me with a tight grip and I grapple for the ladder for only a moment as we fall, my face wet with tears.
Aragorn releases his hold on me, yelling as we jump from either side and onto the ground below. I throw my dagger as I fall, then land into a roll, grabbing it from an Uruk when I stand.
"Amariel!"
I turn, replacing my dagger with a sword and cut down anything in my path as I run after Aragorn, my blood pumping fast.
We run through the keep and around to the gate by the causeway, Uruks barrelling through and cutting down the men standing in their way.
We pass Theoden, leaning against the wall of the keep. Injured.
"Hold them!" He yells to Aragorn.
"How long do you need!?"
I duck past Aragorn, cutting the neck of an Uruk charging through the door.
"As long as you can give me." Theoden tells him. I face them, Aragorn nodding to him and turning to me.
"Find Legolas!" He orders, touching my arm as he passes.
I nod as he grabs Gimli, who I didn't even see standing nearby, the pair ducking into a tunnel moments before the Men of Rohan charge forward to hold the gate.
I jump back, narrowly avoiding a spear through my side and move away from the door to scan my eyes at the area above me.
"Timbers!" Theoden yells, holding his side.
