The classroom was loud with the buzz of voices, everyone settling into the post-detention lull before Aizawa inevitably dragged us through more grueling exercises. I leaned back in my chair, boots propped on the desk in front of me, trying to tune out the chatter. If I could just coast under the radar for the rest of the day, I'd count that as a win.

"Oi, Woods!" a voice called from across the room, cutting through the noise.

I tilted my head lazily toward the source. It was Kaminari, leaning against Sero's desk with that shit-eating grin he always wore when he was up to something.

"What?" I grunted, not bothering to sit up.

"You're really pushing it with Aizawa-sensei today, huh? Trying to see how close you can get to being expelled?" Kaminari teased.

I shrugged. "What can I say? I like living on the edge."

"Living on the edge of what?" came another voice, sharp and biting. I turned to see Iida, sitting at his desk with perfect posture and an expression that screamed judgment.

I sighed, already regretting acknowledging his existence. "Living on the edge of my patience, Four-Eyes. Thanks for asking."

The corner of the room erupted into snickers, mostly from Mina and Kaminari. Iida, however, was far from amused. His eyes narrowed behind his glasses, and he stood, gesturing dramatically with his hand. "You can't expect to succeed at UA with that attitude, Woods! Your disregard for authority and decorum is—"

"—gonna make my life a helluva lot more fun," I cut in, flashing him a toothy grin. "Thanks for the pep talk, though. Really inspirational."

Iida's face turned red, whether from anger or embarrassment, I couldn't tell. "It's not a pep talk!"

"Could've fooled me," I said, leaning back farther in my chair.

"Ryosuke, you're such a little shit." The voice came from beside me, and I turned to find Mina sliding into the chair at my side, her grin just as mischievous as mine.

"And you love me for it," I shot back.

"Damn right," she said, kicking her feet up onto the desk next to mine. "You're the only person in this class who talks back to Iida and doesn't immediately regret it. You're like...my chaotic soul twin."

"Twin? I'm at least the older sibling," I teased, earning a playful shove from her.

"Yeah, no," Mina said, laughing. "But I'll let you think that if it makes you feel better."

As the class continued to devolve into lighthearted banter, a voice cut through the noise.

"Do you ever shut up, Woods?"

The words were laced with disdain, and I turned to see Todoroki leaning against the wall near the back of the classroom. His expression was neutral, but his tone made it clear he wasn't impressed.

"Not when I've got an audience," I shot back, my grin turning sharper. "What's the matter, Snowflake? Jealous you're not the center of attention for once?"

Todoroki's gaze didn't waver. "I just think it's funny how loud you are for someone who barely put any effort into the quirk assessment test."

The classroom went silent, all eyes darting between us. Mina raised an eyebrow, her grin widening as if she couldn't wait to see how this played out.

I tilted my head, locking eyes with Todoroki. "Funny, isn't it? How I still ended up here, same as you. Guess effort doesn't mean shit when you've got talent."

A faint ripple of laughter ran through the room, and Todoroki's eyes narrowed slightly. He pushed off the wall, stepping forward until he was standing just a few feet away from me.

"Talent doesn't mean much if you're too lazy to use it," he said, his voice low but firm.

"Good thing I don't need your approval to succeed, huh?" I shot back, standing up and matching his intensity.

The tension between us was palpable, and I could feel the class collectively holding their breath.

"Alright, that's enough," Aizawa's voice cut through the moment, his tired tone carrying more weight than any shout. "Ryo, Todoroki, sit down. Now."

I let out a breath, my smirk returning as I stepped back and plopped into my seat. Todoroki didn't say anything, but the glare he shot me promised this wasn't over.

Mina leaned over, her voice low and conspiratorial. "I give it two days before you two end up punching each other during training."

"Two days?" I whispered back, smirking. "Try tomorrow."
