The pitch-black park surrounded me, each shadow a taunting reminder that Aditi was still nowhere to be found. My breaths came faster now, shallow and uneven. I had shouted her name so many times that my throat was dry, and my heart was racing as if trying to escape my chest.

Then, suddenly, the lights turned on.

For a moment, I froze, squinting against the sudden brightness. The park transformed in an instant, no longer a void of darkness but a surreal scene bathed in soft golden light.

Something was off—this wasn’t the park’s usual glow. As my eyes adjusted, I noticed it. Flowers lined the pathway ahead, creating a trail that seemed to lead somewhere. Fairy lights wrapped around the trees, twinkling like stars, and delicate petals scattered the ground.

I turned in a slow circle, trying to take it all in. My panic subsided slightly, replaced by confusion.

What was this?

Before I could fully process it, a spotlight gleamed on the ground near me, startling me. I blinked at it, watching as it began to move. The light crept forward, illuminating the trail of flowers as if guiding me somewhere.

My chest tightened. My legs moved on their own, my gaze fixed on the spotlight as it carved a path through the dreamy scene.

It stopped at a small clearing, where my eyes landed on the source of all this magic.

Aditi.

She was sitting in a beautifully adorned chair, the kind you’d see in a fairytale. Her hair fell in soft waves over her shoulders, and she looked ethereal under the glow of the lights. But what caught my attention most was the guitar in her lap.

She glanced up at me, a playful smile tugging at her lips. Then, without a word, she strummed the strings, the familiar melody hitting me before the words did.

"I like your eyes, you look away when you pretend not to care..."

Her voice was soft, warm, and steady, carrying the lyrics effortlessly.

I stared, stunned, as she began to sing. Slowly, she rose from the chair, her gaze locked on mine as she continued.

"I like the dimples on the corners of the smile that you wear..."

My heart, which had been racing in panic moments ago, now raced for an entirely different reason.

Aditi began walking toward me, her steps slow and deliberate, perfectly in time with the rhythm of the song.
