The evening was shaping up to be lively. The house buzzed with activity as I put the finishing touches on the arrangements. Dinner tonight wasn't just a family gathering-it was a chance for everyone important in Aditi's life to come together.
I was focused on arranging the plates when I heard it-her voice.
It was light, lilting, and so familiar that it made me freeze mid-motion. A smile crept onto my face before I even turned to look at her. And when I did, my breath caught.
Aditi stood by the entrance, her presence instantly lighting up the room. She wore a soft white dress that hugged her frame perfectly, her hair cascading down in waves. Her natural elegance was enough to make everything else in the room fade away.

My heart thudded loudly in my chest, and my mind spiraled into places it shouldn't have. She looked so beautiful, so effortlessly mesmerizing, that all I wanted was to walk up to her, pull her aside, and-
I clenched my fists, forcing myself to look away. Not now, I reminded myself. Her family was here, and Daksh-her brother, my best friend-was just around the corner. This wasn't the time for my thoughts to wander into dangerous territory.
"Avyan, you're standing there like you've seen a ghost," came Daksh's voice from behind me.
Before I could respond, he threw an arm around my shoulders and pulled me into a suffocating hug.
"Daksh," I managed to croak, trying to free myself from his iron grip. "Let me breathe, man."
He laughed and stepped back, his grin as wide as ever. "What? Don't tell me you've forgotten what real brotherly love feels like!"
