Just after dinner, a knock was heard. Satoshi whispered to Sonica, "Mom I think he's back."
Sonica replied as she stood up, "Wait right here son. I'll haft to see about that."
She walked off to the front door and opened it.
To her relief it was Gray and her daughter 'Neka'.
Sonica asked, "What's on your mind Gray?"
That's when Gray asked, "Would you mind if we come in?"
Sonia shook her head cause she never minded Gray visiting (even when she's with her family).
Just after sitting down and Neka and Satoshi are alone, Sonica told Gray what happened.
Once Gray knows about it, she said, "Figures that red brat would crawl back to you after 11 years. What a shameless joke?"
Thats when Gray said with a grim expression, "I'm afraid I have some bad news Sonica."
Sonica asked, "What's that?"
Gray answered, "Jamie Rose is released from the asylum."
Sonica gasped as Satoshi and Neka heard it too.
Sonica asked, "But how? He was sentenced there with no possible release!"
Gray answered her as Neka and Satoshi looked concerned, "Well from what I heard from my husband, one of his older brothers payed for his bail in exchange for Jamie to be on parole."
Sonica asked, "Has he lost his mind?! That Jerk killed Raito! My husband! Our friend. Our member of the speed trio."
Gray replied to her, "I'm aware he killed him Sonica but he is on parole which means he can't get near you or your sons without violating his parole or he will go back."
Satoshi and Neka were not happy as Neka asked in shock, "The man who murdered your father is released? How's this possible?"
Satoshi replied to him, "I dunno Neka. But if I see him near my mother or my brothers I will make crush him with my own hands."
Satoshi was a little silent and said, "I lost my Dad but I cannot lose either of my brothers or my Mom, they're all I have left. I also don't wanna lose you too Neka. You're my best friend."
Neka frowned and said, "I know Satoshi-kun. I know."
She then said with determination on his face, "But no matter what happens, we will do what we can for your family especially you Satoshi-kun."
Satoshi smiled a little and said, "Thank you Neka-chan. I dunno what I did to deserve you as a best friend."
Though that was only Day 1. The beginning. But the gap between Sonica and Knuckette was as wide as it was when they got divorced.
Closing the gap is more difficult than closing up an unfixed problem.
