"Beauty lies not in freedom from the curse, but in the courage to live with it."

Teenage Jungkook Pov's
I sit here, alone in the dark, the silence pressing against me like a weight I can't shake off. The room is cold, and I welcome it, it's the only thing that feels like mine, something I can control.
The sunlight that filters through the cracks in the walls is poison to me, a reminder of what I can never be. The warmth it brings is a burn that runs deep, too deep for anyone to understand.
I was born for this. Born with this curse. The blood in my veins is different, forged in darkness. The light... it was never meant for someone like me.
But there's something else, something darker, a tie that I can't escape. It's tied to him. Jimin. I was supposed to kill him. It was always the plan. If I did, I could finally escape this, this... prison. I could go to hell, to the place where I belong, where I won't burn.
But the more I get closer to him, the harder it gets. There's something between us. A connection, like we're tethered by a force beyond my control. His soul, fragile, innocent, yet it calls to me, pulls at me in ways I never expected.
I should be ending this, severing the bond that ties me to him, but the more I fight it, the stronger it grows. The line between duty and something else blurs, and I... I don't know if I can follow through anymore.
What am I supposed to do when the one thing I've always wanted. freedom. feels so far from my reach? When everything about this feels wrong, but still... I can't walk away.

-The phone buzzed against Jungkook's palm, and he pressed it to his ear with a sigh, his mother's voice coming through sharp and deliberate, just as he'd expected,
"Where are you now?" she asked, skipping pleasantries as always.
"In the village," he replied curtly, his eyes drawn to the pond where Jimin splashed playfully. His bare torso shimmered in the golden light, the water dancing around his slender figure. Jungkook's gaze lingered longer than it should have watching the way Jimin tilted his head back with a laugh so unguarded, so pure.
"Still wasting time?" his mother's voice snapped him back. "You have a job to finish, Jungkook."
He clenched his jaw, his tone darkening. "I haven't forgotten."
"Then why are you delaying?" she pressed, her voice cold and cutting. "You know why you were born. You know what's at stake."
Jungkook's grip on the phone tightened. "I know," he said quietly, glancing back at Jimin. The boy was crouched by the water now, his fingers tracing lazy circles on the surface, completely unaware of the eyes on him.
"You've let your emotions cloud your judgment," she continued. "This was supposed to be simple. That boy is nothing but a sacrifice. His life belongs to us. To me. I gave you life for this very purpose."
Jungkook's throat tightened, the weight of her words sinking in. "He's just... different," he muttered, more to himself than to her.
His mother's laugh was bitter devoid of warmth. "Different? He's a burden. A curse. You think you're sparing him, but every moment you delay, you're damning yourself further. You know the rules, Jungkook. Every five years, you have a chance to set yourself free. Kill him, and you return to your rightful place."
