"Survivor rule #1: Laugh at society’s outdated labels and keep being fabulous. It’s their problem, not yours."
__________________Jungkook pressed his phone tightly against his ear, feeling more frustrated with each angry word from his father. His dad's voice was sharp and full of rage, breaking the quiet of the night.
“Do you even understand what’s at stake?” his father yelled. “This isn’t the time for feelings or delays. The deal needs to happen. You’re wasting time while I try to keep everything on track.”
Leaning back against a rough tree, Jungkook felt the cold bark against his skin. He took a deep breath, trying to control his growing irritation. The chilly air didn’t help, and he clenched his free hand into a fist, his jaw tight.
“Those people you care about?” his father continued, the call crackling. “They’re just in the way. I didn’t build this company by worrying about people who don’t own the land. Do it, Jungkook, or I’ll find someone else who will.”
Jungkook briefly closed his eyes, taking in his father’s harsh words before replying. His voice was steady but showed his annoyance.
“It’s not that easy, Dad. These people aren’t just nameless targets. They’ve lived here for generations. You can’t just push them out without consequences. If we force them away, we risk losing everything.”
His father laughed mockingly. “Save me the lectures. Trust doesn’t pay the bills—money does. I didn’t get here by asking for permission. If you think these people can be bribed or intimidated, you’re mistaken.”
Jungkook pushed away from the tree and walked slowly, the dry leaves crunching under his feet. In the distance, he could see a faint campfire, where laughter and music filled the air, a sharp contrast to his heated call.
“You’re not listening,” Jungkook said, his voice growing colder. “These people will protect what’s theirs. If they resist, the deal will fail. You want me to do things your way, but your approach is reckless. If it goes wrong, it’ll be because you were too focused on money to see the bigger picture.”
There was a pause before his father spoke again, his tone now low and threatening. “Watch how you speak to me, boy. You think you know better? I’ve spent thirty years building this company. I’ve overcome competitors and turned nothing into success. Don’t teach me about strategy.”
Jungkook stopped, staring into the dark forest ahead. The wind rustled the leaves, but he could still hear his father's voice.
“And don’t think you’re irreplaceable,” his father continued, his voice colder now. “You’re my son, but if you keep this up, I’ll find someone else to take your place.”
Jungkook felt a bitter smile come to his lips. He shook his head and leaned back against the tree again, feeling the weight of his father’s expectations press down on him.
“Go ahead,” he said quietly but firmly. “Find someone else. But when it goes wrong, don’t come to me. I’m done being your puppet.”
The silence that followed felt heavy, only broken by the soft sound of leaves rustling in the breeze. Finally, his father spoke again, frustration evident in his voice.
“You’re crossing a dangerous line, Jungkook. You think you’re smart, but you’ll see how far you get without me. You’ve forgotten your place, and I won’t let your weakness bring us down.”
Jungkook stayed silent, letting the quiet hang between them, unwilling to argue further.
After a moment, his father’s tone softened a bit. “How’s Jimin? Is he okay? You’re looking after him, right?”
