It's the Friday before my birthday today and I met up with my friends in the waiting area at school to discuss last minute issues.
"So what do I need to clarify for tomorrow?"
Amanhle asked, "So, what's the theme for tomorrow? What are we wearing?"
"Black," I replied. "The theme is hot pink and black, it's on the invitation."
Liyanda asked, "So should we come before or after 9?"
"We're starting at 9am so to not miss out come before 9," I replied.
Sipho asked, "When is Smelo coming?"
"Today," I replied. "My mom and I are going to pick her up from the airport now."
Bafana asked, "Can I bring Libhongo tomorrow?"
I raised an eyebrow. "Why do you want to bring Libhongo manje Bafana kodwa?"
Bafana shrugged. "We actually had plans for the weekend and I told her that I'm going to your birthday party now she thinks I don't wanna go out with her and you know mocc that I'm still tryna gain her trust back."
I nodded. "Yohh okay, that's fine. But make sure she knows the dress code and please no drama."
He nodded. "I promise and moreover she kinda wanna join the squad"
Amanhle commented, "Haii she's welcome what can we say we can't push her away ohhh and Liya baby am I passing by your house tomorrow or you are good ?"
Liyanda replied, "I'm getting a ride with Kagiso."
Thabo spoke up, "Imma come with Sipho cause Amanhle is gonna reach there with her mom."
Kagiso asked, "So Amanhle and Liyanda's mom are gonna be there?"
I nodded. "Yep and they are gonna be earlier than y'all and be respectful tuu don't kiss in corners yohh."
Sipho said, "Eishhh these moms."
Everyone laughed. Just then, Ntsika caught my eye and gestured for me to come aside with him.
"Guys, can you excuse us for a minute?" Ntsika asked, his eyes still locked on mine.Liyanda teased, "When you come back, come back official!" The others chuckled, and I playfully rolled his eyes.
We walked hand in hand to the school fields, which were a bit of a distance from the waiting area. The fresh air and peaceful atmosphere were a welcome change from the bustling waiting area. We strolled along the grassy field, watching as students played soccer in the distance.
As we walked, Ntsika said, "We haven't really been close as much lately."
I nodded, feeling a pang of guilt. "I know, right? And I'm sure it's all my fault, since I've been focused on my birthday plans."
Ntsika stopped and turned to face me, his eyes locking onto mine. "I really miss you, Melo," he said, his voice low and sincere.
My heart skipped a beat. "I miss you too, Ntsika."
Without another word, Ntsika leaned in and kissed me softly. It was a gentle, loving kiss that left me breathless. We stood there for a moment, wrapped in each other's arms.
As we broke apart, Ntsika smiled and pulled out two boxes from his pocket. If we were older I would believe that he was proposing cause it looks like a ring box and the other one was long, maybe it's a necklace.
"I got you a gift," he said, his eyes sparkling. "But don't open it until I call you."
I felt a surge of excitement and curiosity. "You shouldn't have!" I exclaimed.
