Chapter 14

Delilah

The next day I woke up feeling groggy and tired. After I told Madden how I felt, or at least how I think I feel, he reluctantly left me alone. I couldn't stand to be around him - it hurt too much. It didn't even make sense. As soon as I made my decision to let Madden go, I regretted it right away. I seriously have no idea why I even rejected him! I mean, yeah we were moving fast, but I guess that's just how it is with werewolves and mates. I just can't get him out of my head, and it drives me insane! His sad, disappointed, defeated face. I hate myself. Stupid, stupid, stupid Delilah!

"Delilah?" There was a knock at the door and my grandmother let herself in.

"Yes Grandma?" I forced a smile to my face.

"Sweetie, why don't you come down and get something to eat? You skipped breakfast, and I won't have you also skipping lunch." My grandmother pulled a strand of her graying hair out of the way. Wait, lunch? What time is it anyways?

Alright. I'll be down in a few minutes," I reassured. She smiled sweetly at me, then left.

I instantly turned to my bedside table to look at the digital numbers blaring at me through the dark bedroom. Holy crap, 1:13pm! Had I really slept that long? Maybe I just got caught up in my thoughts? Like right now…

I jumped out of the bed and started to get ready for the day. I may not be in the happiest of moods, but theres no sense in moping around in bed all day. I was the one who made the decision to reject Madden in the first place anyways. I shouldn't be the one feeling like this! No matter how many times I tell myself 'we're better off as friends', my heart disagrees. Which is not fair if you ask me. I should be the one in control of my heart. Or am I in control?

"Owen called today." My grandfather stated as he made his way into the room.

"Owen?" I practically screamed. Owen?! I thought I'd never see him again! "What'd he call about?" I asked, eager to learn more.

"He just called and said he was checking up on us. He wanted to know how you were, and-"

"He asked about me? What'd you tell him?" I cut my grandfather off. What if Owen came back? I mean, he did try to rape me… Do I really want to see him again?

"He just wanted to know how you were." He repeated. My eyes wandered off into space as I tried to think things through.

"Did he say anything about coming back? Or about Madden? Was he angry? Did he sound mad?" I threw the questions out there like my life depended on it. I was desperate to know what had happened.

"Woah, hold on there," My grandpa held his hand up and let out a loud, booming sound of laughter. I stared at my grandfather with pleading eyes. I need to know.

He cleared his throat and continued. "He says he doesn't plan on coming around for a while, but he misses all of us. He didn't say anything about this Madden fellow. And he didn't sound angry to me, he was just his normal calm self. Anyways, I've got to get going, meeting. You have fun Sweetheart. Go on a walk or something… it's beautiful outside!" My grandfather gave me one last grin, and left me alone. Alone, again. Maybe I will take his advice, and go on a walk. Maybe I could get kidnapped or something, maybe even mugged? How pathetic am I. Actually looking forward to something bad happening to me. For anything to happen to me - I was so desperate.

A while after I had finished lunch, I decided to go for a jog. I was tired of being in the house, doing nothing but wear my brain out. It was time to get off of my sorry butt and do something.

I opened the door to the big house, and quickly left with nothing more than my iPod and a water bottle. Maybe I could do some exploring today, get to know my surroundings a bit.

I jogged down the sidewalk, and decided to take a left instead of a right. I had never been down this way, so I was challenging myself to take a risk and explore a little.

It was a perfect day for a jog. The sun was shining down lightly onto the earth, illuminating everything in it's path and casting a bright glow off of everything. There was a slight breeze, which felt quite nice actually. It wasn't hot out, but it wasn't cold either. It was just perfect. The birds were chirping from everywhere around, all of the wildlife seemed up and about today, enjoying the perfect day God had created for us.

I ran along the path, seeing it lead out of the neighborhood. Ah, heck with it. Might as well just get some exercise in and run. Besides, if I get tired, all I have to do is call home, and one of the drivers will pick me up.

With my mind made up, I quickly made a sprint for it. It's not like I can lose anything anyways, right? My life is pretty much all ready about as bad as it can get. I think? I'm probably just over exaggerating.

In the distance, I could hear a loud motor making it's way down the road I traveled. The music from the vehicle was so loud, I almost had to cover my ears, and the car wasn't even near me yet! How could anyone seriously drive with that loud of music? Unless you were deaf or something? I'd be too afraid I'd go deaf from how loud it was playing.

I came to a halt in my jog, and decided to take a quick break. I could barely even run anyways, with all of that loud banging music. As the vehicle neared closer and closer to me, I took note that it was quite a big car. It was a truck, with big monstrous looking wheels, speeding down the road as the car swerved back and forth. My eyes widened with shock as I realized the person driving this car is more or likely drunk. It's best I get out of the way.

I moved to the far side of the sidewalk, near the forrest beside me, trying to stay clear of the person driving. My plan worked pretty well, that is however, until the driver pulled up against the side of the road and stopped just feet away from me. Why did he stop? Was he here for me or something?

I watched as an old rugged man, quite ungracefully  hobbled out of the large, blue truck. His black hair flung in front of the man's face, and his beard was slightly off-putting.

The man turned my way, and grinned from ear to ear at me, obviously happy to see me.

"H-hello," I greeted, a bit unsure of what to do. The man looked like a complete mess, but why would he stop down the road right where I am? I was just jogging, nothing out of the ordinary.

"Hello Sweetcheeks!" He slurred and let out a chuckle. Right, this isn't creepy at all…

"Can I help you Sir?" I asked him, a little shakily. My uncomfortable expression caused the man to frown.

"Why, you sure can Sweetcheeks! Maybe-maybe you could d-drive me home, yeah?" The man asked between a few hiccups. I could literally smell the alcohol floating off of him, even twenty feet away.

"I-I think I should be going home now. It was nice meeting you." I decided to break off into a sprint, unaware that the man already had other plans.

Just as I turned on my heel to leave, my wrists were enveloped and swallowed into two huge hands.

"I don't think so, Sweetcheeks." The creepy old man gave me an odd, wide grin as his yellowing teeth peeked through. Well, this is not exactly how I planned on my day to go. At least I guessed it before it happened! Maybe being kidnapped isn't so bad? But why am I even being kidnapped in the first place? Too many questions. No one to answer. Oh how I wished Madden were here right now to just beat the crap out of this creep.
