Today was the day, the day they would all begin their journeys home. Mariah had her rucksack in one hand and Samson's leash in the other. Since Samson had not been on a leash in a very long time, he was having a hell of a time adjusting to it.

He was currently sitting and refusing to move. "Samson please, work with me." Samson huffed and laid down.

"Someone doesn't like their leash eh." Joe said.

"What gave you that impression?" Mariah asked in a frustrated tone.

Joe chuckled. "You might have to carry him onto the train."

"I'm not carrying you to the train, on, the train, off the train, or around the farm." Mariah said to Samson.

Joe put his rucksack on the ground and opened it. "I think I have something that might get him up." From his bag he pulled out an orange ball. "Samson! you want this?" Samson jumped up.

Joe threw it up in the air and Samson caught it. "Can you walk now?" Samson began to walk forward.

"Thank god."

"This reminds me of how I got you out of the bar the one night." Joe said.

"I don't think I want you coming to the farm anymore."

"Oh, shut up." Joe said, putting his arm around her.

"Look at these lovebirds." Luz said, walking over to the pair.

"Hi Luz."

"You two excited about going home?"

"Very." Joe said.

"Me too. I can't wait to eat my mother's cooking again. She makes the best fried chicken." Mariah said.

"You're making me hungry." Luz said.

Mariah laughed. "How are you feeling about going home Luz?"

"I'm ecstatic. The girls are going to be all over me." he said excitedly.

Joe and Mariah shook their heads and laughed.

"Just don't corner them in a barn."

"And on that note, goodbye." Luz said, beginning to walk away.

"GEORGE LUZ, YOU GET YOUR ASS BACK HERE!" Mariah yelled.

Luz stopped dead in his tracks and turned around. "Yes ma'am."

"It's the last time I'm going to see you for awhile so I want a hug, and you're not getting away from me that easily."

"Well, I'm sorry about that."

"As you should be. Come here." She opened her arms and Luz walked forward.

"I'm gonna miss you." Luz whispered into her ear.

"So am I. Thank you for being my best friend and standing by my side all these years." Mariah said.

Luz pulled back and put his hands on her shoulders. "Don't mention it. Write me soon, ok?"

"I will if you will." Mariah said.

"You know I will. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to leave before I start crying."

"Goodbye Luz." Mariah yelled.

For the next twenty minutes Mariah said goodbye to everyone in Easy. She was saying goodbye to Buck when her name was called. She turned to find Winters standing in front of a Jeep.

"Well, that's my ride. Goodbye Buck, it's been an honoring serving with you."

"You too, kid. Keep in touch."

Mariah nodded and gave him one final hug. She turned to see Joe standing in front of her, holding his arm out. "May I escort the lady to her Jeep?"

Mariah laughed and linked her arm with his. "You shall."

They got to the truck and Joe and Winters nodded to each other. "Well, this is where I leave you." Joe said.

"I wish you didn't have to go." Mariah said.

"I wish I didn't either. But I'll be with you soon."

Mariah pulled him into a hug. "I love you, so, so, so, much."

He leaned down and kissed her. "I love you too. Now, get on that Jeep before I put you over my shoulder and drag you onto the boat."

Mariah chuckled. "Yes sir."

He took her hand and helped her into the back of the Jeep. "Come on Samson." Samson jumped up and curled up on the seat beside her.

"You be good on the train, okay bud? No giving your mom a hard time." Joe said to Samson.

"He'll be fine. You on the other hand I worry about. No fights on the boat."

Joe laughed and put his hands up. "I promise."

Mariah smile and reached out to him. "I'll see you soon."

"Absolutely. I'll write as soon as I can."

"So will I. I love you."

"I love you too." Joe said, kissing her.

"Mariah, we have to get going." Winters said.

Mariah nodded and smiled at Joe. He let go of her hand and watched as the Jeep pulled away.

Mariah turned around and watched Joe until he disappeared. She sighed and turned to face forward.

Winters couldn't help but watch in the rearview mirror. He didn't know what to say so he kept quiet.

Ten minutes later the Jeep pulled into the train station. Mariah got out and grabbed Samson's leash, he didn't budge. "Not this again. Samson, come on, get out of the truck." Samson jumped up and out of the truck.

Winters stood in front of her, he raised his hand and saluted her.

"Oh, stop that, come here." Mariah wrapped her arms around Winters, he froze for a second before smiling and hugging her back.

"Thank you for being the best leader. It was an honor serving with you."

"You as well Mariah. Have a safe trip home."

"You too, sir." Winters got back into the Jeep and drove away.

"Come on Samson, let's go home."
