~Author's Corner~

First, I owe you folks reading on Wattpad an apology.

I published a new chapter of this fic back in September on fanfiction dot net and AO3, but I completely forgot to update the Wattpad version! My total bad, y'all.

Regardless, I hope you enjoy this long-overdue chapter.

Pallet Town, Kanto

Rose quickly shook out the water soaking her umbrella before shutting the front door. "Red?" she called out to her son. "Are you here?" Rose moved into the living room looking for him. She peeked into the kitchen, then climbed upstairs and entered his bedroom, but saw no sign of Red. Seeing how bad it was outside, she began to fret and was about to run back down and endure the weather to look for him.

Except when she turned, she was face-to-face with a torn white shirt. She looked up and she saw her son looking down at her with a neutral stare.

"... This storm," Red spoke, moving past her and looking out the window. "Was it expected?"

Rose didn't answer, still not completely used to the fact that her son was really back.

"... I asked if this storm was expected."

Rose slightly jumped when Red suddenly turned his piercing gaze at her. "N-no! I wasn't expecting such heavy rain today..."

In fact, no one was. It was so terrible that the current residents of Pallet couldn't even leave town. To make matters worse, the unexpectedness of the storm meant that the local weather reports couldn't predict when it would stop.

"..." Red simply nodded and began to head out the room.

"W-wait, Red!"

The Akai stopped but didn't turn around.

"Those clothes..." Rose began hesitantly. "You... you don't have anything else to wear?"

Red slowly shook his head no.

"Well... I had some clothes made for you in case you ever... came back..." Rose looked away. "If you'd like, you can take a quick shower and put them on. They might be too big for you, but..."

"Okay."

Rose's eyes snapped back to her son, who still had his back turned. "W-what?"

Red shrugged. "I said okay. That's fine."

Rose blinked, but soon enough smiled widely. "If you want, I can get started on dinner, too. I'll make all your favorites..." she offered timidly.

"Sounds good," Answered Red before he made his way to the bathroom.

Even the sudden clap of thunder outside couldn't stop the joy that blossomed inside of Rose as she hummed a happy tune to herself and went back downstairs to get started on that dinner.

Unbelievable. Absolutely fucking unbelievable.

Green Oak scowled as he laid down in his worn-down old bed. He couldn't begin to fathom what just went down.

That bastard Red gets up and disappears without a word to his mother, practically ruining her life, then comes back eight years later, and everyone accepts him back just like that ?
