Josiah's POV (First person)
The gun sounding off was enough to stop me in my tracks, a slight twinge hit my chest as I dropped to the ground, fear makes me slam my paws into the earth as I grit my canines. Movement to my right catches my eye as I train in on it to see my brother's wolf falling to the ground, a whimper leaving his body before a stillness that sets me on edge.
My eyes darted back to the car that now held a screaming Amelia before I saw her body jerk forward and go limp, as I longed to continue running towards her. My brother, I couldn't leave him. Amelia, I wouldn't be able to make it. What use to her would I be if dead. I sincerely hope my brother isn't dead. He's still, his fur dancing in the breeze as the car that holds our future speeds away.
I strain my eyes remembering every dent, every tag number. Not that I thought it would do me good, he'd probably change it to throw me off, but what he doesn't know is I caught his scent. A good quality about my family being the head of the school is they made sure to train their sons to be the brightest, the strongest and the fiercest. Though I may appear calm I'm made deadly by the hands of my raising.
My family chose me to be the trained tracker, smelling out anything and everything miles away, far beyond the reach of a normal trained wolf. Especially with Amelia being marked i could find her easily. I memorized her smell the nights I lay next to her sleeping form, keeping the nightmares at bay that I knew haunted her mind.
No matter what Amelia I will find you. I willed it through our mate bond hoping she gets the message as I turn to my brothers form, upon getting closer I see he has low shallow breathes coming out in shudders, I run to him and shift back to human form as I reach him dropping to my knees carefully rolling him to his back.
My brother shifts to his human form as well, his breathing came out harsh now at the new angle. wills eyes are wide open as he stares up at me. I cringe at how pale he is. Blood stains my hands where I touch him, and as I examine the wound black webs splay out from where the bullet is lodged in his chest. Silver. I thought to myself as I grit my teeth. I needed to get it out of him and quickly before he was poisoned beyond return.
I grew one claw out controlling and willing the rest of my wolf to stay back, I needed to be steady. I looked into my brother's eyes giving him courage through our bond, everything I could manage, before advancing towards him.
Will's POV (first person)
I'm not a stranger to pain, in fact I've experienced quite a bit of it in training, broken bones, deep cuts, bruises all things of the like. As a wolf you heal easily to injuries like that. Yeah, nothing compared to how much pain coursed through my body right at this moment. I knew it was silver the moment it ripped through my flesh. I got lucky, if I hadn't have seen him pull his gun my heart would have taken the shot.
There's a chance I still could die, we don't train on this. Sure it's known to avoid silver of course, but you can't always do that. Here I lay feeling the life drain from me, my chest feeling as though it's being crushed. Yeah this fucking sucks. Then blinding light with a hot branding of fire accompanying it flashed through my vision and body as I grunt and yell in pain as my brother digs the bullet from my chest.
I hear it clink to the ground as Josiah curses, hoisting me over his shoulder. As I'm turned upside down and being ran across the courtyard I look to the roads willing my angel to come back to me, and willing my eyes to stay open as I give out hoping that I wake up from this nightmare, or at least wake up at all.
