Lia slept, peacefully on the outside. On the inside however, her mind was a torrent. Time wasn't measured in the world she was in, she had been sleeping for three days since the brother's brought her to the infirmary, three days of images of her blood seeping across the floor coming into her mind.
She choked constantly like she would never breathe again. She choked so much she thought all the blood on the floor was pouring from her mouth in a torturous stream. On the brink of death constantly. Maybe that's what caused her to act so carelessly when she startled awake. Maybe that's what caused her to scream and run down the halls thinking she was running from her captor after seeing her body hooked with wires and needles.
Her prior vision always staying on the surface of her mind, her greatest and only fear. Being taken.
That same fear propelled her out the doors of the school into the courtyard. That fear brought her so far, and yet that's the same fear that kept her rooted to her spot when she saw the rogue wolf standing before her. His teeth dripping spit and blood as a ferocious growl ripped through his huge frame.
A scream stuck in her throat but wasn't able to come to the surface. The wolf before her smelled of rotting flesh, chunks of its body in various stages of decomposing as its neon green eyes stared through her soul. She willed herself to move but knew she couldn't out run it, she willed herself to fight even though her bones were tired. But all she could do was stand there frozen. Her jaw slightly open as she willed herself to scream, to do anything. Nothing ever came.
It was like a spell was cast on her and all she could do was watch. Watch and wait for death incarnate to decide what to do with this silly girl giving herself up on a silver platter. Suddenly, the wolf standing before her shrunk into its human form and she saw her worst fear. The henchman was back, she was alone and defenseless. How easily he had been here, how easily she had presented herself.
Her nightmares seemed childish, her running from the safety of the school was an act of stupidity that would now cost her everything. He grinned at her, it was sinister and she felt her entire body bristle in response, the only one it had been able to make so far. He reached for her and as she finally let out a scream her air was cut off as he grabbed her throat cutting off her air flow, her vision darkened slightly as he loosed up only for her to gasp and wheeze.
He brought his face close to hers and his rotting breath hit her nose "you're lucky boss wants you alive, I'd have killed you right here and now and drink your blood if I wasn't getting paid so much and get a bit of the benefit myself. Don't make another sound or I'll crush your vocal cords. He said alive, not unharmed." He seethed in her face and her eyes watered.
He removed his hand from her throat only to wrap his arm around her neck and begin dragging her to his car she recognized last time, how had he been allowed to sit out there? Hadn't they known? She told the principal everything. A thought flit across her mind that she hoped couldn't be true. The principal couldn't have been apart of this.
As her mind reeled she heard screams as she turned her head to see her mates. She had already been dragged to the vehicle, she was shoved in and noticed someone else was with her captor. A strange man watched her with an evil smile just as putrid as the rogue wolfs. She shrunk back in her seat as she stared ahead as her shifted mates ran towards the car teeth bared.
A shot rang out next to her head and her ears rang as she saw wills body crumple to the ground a pain in her chest as she watched horrified as Josiah's wolf crouched low. She screamed before she got hit in the head and her mind went dark with her last sight being wills wolf, laying still on the ground.
