Chapter 27

Your POV

After hearing the exciting news, BTS members have invited everyone at the meeting to a dinner. As you all got in your vans, Hyejin, your makeup artist, was busy watching something on her phone.

"Y/N, did you watch the teaser for Jungkook's new music video? You look really pretty here!" she exclaimed, showing her screen. You gave her a warm smile, thanking her for the compliment.

You were so caught up in everything that's been going the past few days that you didn't even realize it was already out. As soon as your eyes caught a sight of Jungkook looking more breathtaking than ever, it brought back memories of your time in Canada. The way he confessed his love to you, the way he made love to you in his hotel room...

"We're here", your manager announced, bringing you back to reality. The restaurant was already decorated for Christmas, putting you in a holiday spirit. As soon as you stepped in, you saw Jungkook standing tall, clad in his black coat, as his eyes were already glued to your frame. You almost didn't notice other BTS members along with staff members.

"Let's take a seat", Jin led everyone to your reserved table. Hyejin and Saehoon walked alongside you, clearly thinking that you would all sit side by side. However, Jungkook seemed to have other plans as he swiftly took a seat on your right. It was too late for you to change your seat, so you decided to sit down before anyone else could register your hesitation.

You looked to your left, avoiding Jungkook's gaze on you as your eyes caught Hyejin intently reading something on her phone. Wait, was it a picture of Jungkook and that Minji girl?

You tilted your head in an attempt to get a glimpse of the article when Hyejin seemed to notice your interest and showed her phone to you. You two became close lately, so you weren't surprised by her ability to sense your curiosity.

'Jungkook released an official statement about his relationship with Minji' was the title of the article. Your eyes quickly skimmed through the content.

"... BTS Entertainment has made an official statement regarding the BTS member's relationship with the member of New Jeans. According to their publicist, the two are not currently in a relationship. They dated for a short period of time two years ago, although it fizzled out as Jungkook broke things off after five months of dating."

You tried hard to keep your expression neutral as your heart clenched in your chest. Hyejin never asked about your relationship with Jungkook, opting to stay silent on the matter. So you didn't want to be too open about your emotions.

As you were having your pasta, you had a few conversations with people around you. Every time you'd talk, you could see Jungkook's gaze linger on you for longer than anyone else's.

"Eat more", he suddenly said, putting a piece of steak on your plate. Everyone around you went quiet for a second, eyeing you two with curiosity.  You internally winced, cursing him for acting like that in front of everyone. You didn't want any rumors circulating around you, especially not when you two were broken up for good.

You gave him a polite smile, hoping that the staff members would assume he was just taking care of a junior.

The awkwardness of the moment passed by as Jimin said something to divert the attention from you. You leaned in closer to Jin, who was sitting across from you.

"Did you by any chance see a pink diary? I think I dropped it somewhere on the floor", you asked, omitting the words "at your apartment" on purpose. You knew that people could misunderstand your relationship if they heard that, especially since they weren't aware that other BTS members were there with you.
