The following couple of days after the incident with Elliot's dad had been fairly normal aside from the bodyguards now tailing them. Jamison hadn't realized how intrusive they were going to be and was glad when Friday arrived, ready for a weekend away from other people.

Surprisingly, Elliot had let Coby, one of the bodyguards, drive Jamison home from school so that he could finalize preparations of their trip. While Jamison had insisted that he be guarded too, Elliot had bribed the second bodyguard, Khalil, to hang out at the house while he ran errands. Pastor Timothy wasn't coming for him and if it came down to it, he could deal with any weird fans just like he always had. The third person Jamison had negotiated for, Terrence, was rotated out in shifts with the others.

"Oh my god," Jamison yelled, running up the stairs to their bedroom, desperate to be someplace where Coby was not. Naturally, he was an expert at his job but Jamison had yet to stop being acutely aware of his presence and in turn, was exhausted from spending hours on high alert, just catching him out of the corner of his eye and jumping each time. Suddenly, his life felt very much on display and it was quickly wearing on him. "I'm gonna freak out if I don't have a moment alone."

"Hello to you too," Elliot chuckled, placing a neatly folded pile of clothes into a suitcase that sat open on the bed. "Want me to leave for a minute?"

Flinging his backpack onto the floor, Jamison flopped onto the bed, his face buried in his pillow. While he was more than jazzed to finally learn where Elliot was taking him, he needed a minute to decompress before he could properly embrace that excitement.

Shrugging, Elliot returned to packing, trying to be quiet as he crossed into the bathroom to pack up their toothbrushes. He knew that Jamison was excited and that this strange turn in his life was a lot to cope with, so he didn't fault him for being more overwhelmed than stoked. Fortunately, since Elliot had grown up in the public eye, it didn't bother him nearly as much, though he couldn't wait for a break too. Underneath it all, his stress level had spiked since the night at his father's house, but he was managing to keep it together for both their sakes.

After a few minutes, Jamison rolled over onto his back and exhaled lightly, feeling better. "Okay, sorry for being dramatic," he said, sitting up and smiling as Elliot tucked the toiletry bag into their suitcase. "I'm going to guess that you took the liberty of packing for me already."

"Maybe," Elliot said, smiling sheepishly. Now that they did their laundry together he figured Jamison wouldn't mind, the shyness having worn off in exchange for the easy happiness that comes with domestic comfort.

Looking over at the suitcase, Jamison shook his head at the sight of it being packed nearly to the brim. "Jeez, El, did you have to pack the whole closet for two nights?"

"I just wanted to be sure you'll have everything you might need," Elliot grumbled. Okay, so maybe packing both of Jamison's winter coats was overkill but it didn't matter—now they were prepared for everything and that was exactly what Elliot needed to calm his mind.

Hopping up, Jamison walked to Elliot and cupped his cheeks. "Gay—" he cut himself off, kissing him, "stereotype." While he knew it was actually just a display of one of Elliot's love languages, it was still fun to rib him.

Laughing and rolling his eyes, he turned back to the suitcase and zipped it closed. Maybe Jamison was right but he loved to be his caretaker and was more than fulfilled by ensuring that every element of the trip was completely thought through and planned so that Jamison didn't have to worry about, well, anything.

"I figured that if I left it up to you, you'd probably only pack some socks and underwear and would rely solely on what you're already wearing."

"Hey," Jamison protested, waving his hand, "I'm not that inept at taking care of myself."
