You've actively engaged in forums, discussed endless topics on what makes a book cliché, what makes a strong character ... and yet, your reads have probably increased by exactly 12 views.

Your advice sucks. You tell me. Well hey, I didn't say it was going to work instantly. You gotta keep at it, and more importantly, your interest in the discussions and forums has to be genuine. It's hard to do that if you're focusing on your ulterior motive to get reads.

So put yourself in someone else's shoes. You know that most people on the forums are also fellow writers, right? Chances are, they'd be thrilled if you started reading their stories and showing some support on their work.

Find writers on the forums whose work you might just enjoy. Read their stuff. Vote, comment, leave constructive feedback. But only if your interest is sincere. If you have to fake interest, you're going to have a bad time -- and it's important that you're actually having fun.

There are tons of work on Wattpad; I'm pretty darn sure you'll be able to find a couple that you actually genuinely enjoy. Some of those authors will appreciate your comments and take the time to at least check out your work. And who knows, you might just gain a new long-term reader.

This is no guarantee, and of course it doesn't give you instant 10K reads -- it's a process of networking and so it will take time. But if you're having fun, and you're getting a few good reads out of it, then there's nothing to lose, really.
