Etta Valentine's POV

"We go on a date."

I don't know what I was expecting upon stating my one condition, but Miguel glaring at me and banging his head light against my abdomen wasn't it.

"No. No. No. No. No. No. No." Each syllable was a bang of his forehead.

I went into panic mode. "Err, we don't have to. I-it was more of a suggestion than a condition. We could-"

I yelped as he somehow picked me up and dropped me softly to his thighs.

"No." He said again, his brows still creased in a frown.

"No?" I couldn't get a read on him and it was stressing me out.

"No Etts." He sighed. "No because our first date was meant to be a surprise. I was already planning it and now I don't want it to seem like I'm only taking you out because we struck an imaginary deal."

Oh. Oh?!

"You were already planning our first date?" My words were slow as I carefully got my head around what he was saying.

Miguel pouted at me. Yep. He pouted. "Yeah. But it was meant to be a surprise."

The butterflies I was feeling were so intense that my eyes prickled with tears of joy. "You can keep it a surprise Migs."

I wrapped my arms around his neck and hugged him, the bare skin of his body warming me in more ways than one.

His hands enveloped my waist as they curiously rested just under the hem of my pyjama shirt. "Why are you crying E?"

I sniffled. "Cause you're a lovley person.....But also because I'm extremely hormonal."

Miguel chuckled, the movement causing our bodies to vibrate with the sound. "You gotta think up a new condition now Etts."

"I was only messing. I know it's early days, but I'm really not interested in being anyone else's. Not when you're crazy enough to put up with me."

He tugged me backwards to look at me. "Excuse you? You seem to have got your words mixed up because you're the one crazy enough to put up with me. Not the other way around. So come on, pick a new condition."

I was lost for words but he wanted speech. "I don't know...you think of one."

He eyed me up curiously before smirking like the devil. "You sure about that E?"

My body heated. "I think so?"

He leaned forward and pressed a kiss to where my collar bones meet. "Once you make a deal with the devil, there's no going back mama."

There's that word again. The one that made me wanna do bad things with him.

"I'm okay with that." I said rather breathlessly, completely losing myself in him. Honestly, it was kinda pathetic how easily I became flustered over this man.
