Etta Valentine's POV
I'm freaking out. Like, really freaking out.
"Girl, you'll be fine. They're not gonna bite, from what it sounds like they seem pretty chill."
"Yeah, but what if they don't like me Meg. Can't you come with me for moral support?"
My so called bestie laughed into the mic. "No bitch. You can't have me tagging along to every new place with you. And besides, you got yourself a man now."
"Meg, how many times?! He's not my anything. We're just friends."
She tugged into the phone as I scrambled around my apartment to find my other shoe. "Yeah, and the sky isn't blue. But Ettie hun, you're gonna be fine. Miguel's not gonna let anything bad happen, not that it would anyway. They're his friends and they obviously wanna meet the girl of their buddies dreams, so just don't worry about it."
Ignoring the obvious part of that statement I muttered. "Easier said than done M."
"I know E. But you'll enjoy yourself once you're there. Right now you're just nervous because your introverted lil ass is terrified of people."
"Really feeling the love here."
Meg laughed and I could imagine her throwing her head back. "Just be yourself Etts. You got this. And I gotta go cause Carts just charged up the vibr-"
"Aaaand that's the end of the conversation. Goodbye Meggy, love you, you absolute freak."
Sighing, I sat on the back of my couch and huffed out a nervous breath, looking at myself in the reflection of the full length mirror opposite me.
I went with a sheer black ruffle blouse with a black bra underneath. The blouse was long sleeve and tied up with ribbon in the middle of my breasts. I paired it with a black mini skirt and sheer tights with black flat pumps.
I was debating on whether changing my shirt since it did show a bit more skin than I'm typically used to, but I'd never worn this top before and for some reason, I really wanted to tonight.
Totally had nothing to do with the Latino man whose picking me up any time now.
I still can't believe I actually agreed to do this. I still can't believe that I actually want to do this.
Yeah, sure I'm extremely nervous, but forgive me if I want to meet the people Miguel speaks so highly about.
I stared back at my reflection once more. My skin was so pale it made me cringe sometimes. And looking in the mirror I one too many times tonight, it's say to say I was having one of those moments.
I really should cover up. No one wants to see this much pale skin-
"Etts, you okay in there?"
Muffled words came from the other side of my front door as I realised I'd completely zoned out. Pulling on my long coat, I yelled out to the guy who had my heart beating just that much quicker.
"Now coming." Hurrying to the door, I pocketed my phone and pulled down the handle.
"Hey." I said before allowing my eyes to briefly roam his outfit.
