The warm light of the dining room illuminated the table, where Grandma was carefully setting out plates. Jimin and Jungkook entered, and just then, the sound of a car echoed from outside. Taehyung stepped into the room, his eyes briefly widening in surprise at seeing Jungkook. Without a word, he nodded and made his way to his room.
Grandma glanced at Jungkook and smiled gently. “Sit down, dear,” she said. “Jimin, go and call Jin.”
Obediently, Jimin turned toward the hallway. Entering the room where Jin was supposed to be, he found only Taehyung.
“Tae, has Jin changed his clothes?” Jimin asked, his voice tinged with curiosity.
Taehyung looked up, startled. “What Jin? What are you talking about?” he asked. “Jin is here too? Where is he? When I came, there was no one here.”
Jimin, noticing the untouched clothes still lying on the bed, quickly realized something was wrong. His face filled with worry as he hurried to the dining room where Jungkook was seated.
“Alpha,” Jimin said, his voice laced with concern. “Jin didn’t change his clothes. He’s gone somewhere.”
Jungkook froze for a moment, his heart sinking. Taehyung, who was seated nearby, immediately began to blame himself. His mind raced with guilt, convinced that Jin had left because of him. Before he could spiral further, Jungkook pulled out his phone and dialed Jin’s number.
“Jin, where are you?” Jungkook asked, his tone sharp with worry.
On the other end, Jin’s voice was calm but distant. “Sorry, I’ve reached the guest house. You were busy with Jimin, so I came without informing you. Don’t worry, you and Jimin stay there tonight, and we’ll meet directly at the office tomorrow.”
The call ended abruptly, leaving an air of sadness lingering in the room. The family exchanged glances, each one feeling the weight of Jin’s absence. Sensing the somber mood, Grandma, ever the wise matriarch, spoke up with gentle authority.
“Jin is not a child. Don’t worry about him,” she said, trying to reassure them. “First, all of you have dinner. Then Taehyung will deliver dinner to Jin.”
Everyone nodded and sat down for the meal, though the atmosphere was subdued. After dinner, while the rest of the family relaxed, Grandma moved to the kitchen to wash the dishes. Jungkook, ever attentive, joined her, silently taking over the task.
“Grandma,” Jungkook began, his voice tentative. “Why did you leave Grandpa?”
Grandma paused, her hands still in the soapy water. She looked down, her expression heavy with memories. “It was unbearable for me, what your Grandfather did with Yea-So’s mother. I loved him a lot, but I couldn’t bear what he did. It’s regretful that I left your Grandfather alone, and maybe that’s why your father hated me. Now Namjoon hates me too.”
Jungkook set down the dish he was holding and gently hugged her. “Don’t say that, Grandma. Everything will be fine.”
A faint smile crossed her face as she patted his back. “Yes, yes. But you also control your anger, dear. You know, the day I saw both of them at the station, they were very distressed and troubled. So I brought them here to Jeju Island.”
Jungkook nodded, his gratitude evident. “Thank you, Grandma. You took care of them.”
Later, Jungkook went to Taehyung’s room. Leaning against the doorframe, he smirked. “Are you always like this, or are you just pretending?”
Taehyung looked up, confused. “What do you mean?”
Jungkook’s smirk deepened. “Why do you always run away, especially after breaking Jin’s heart? It must be quite enjoyable for you, leaving him in pain and tears.”
