Chapter 25- Heart Monitors

Chase's P.O.V.

"Why aren't you doing anything?!" I yelled at the doctors who just stood around Adri with confusion written on their face.

"Son, there's nothing we can do," one of them spoke.

"What do you mean? You can't pump the poison out or use something else to bring her back?" I was starting to lose my mind at how frustrated I was. George wasn't here to help me calm down, he went with the cops to give a full declaration of what happened.

"It's not that, it's just that she isn't dead," he frowned before the rest of them walked out the room.

"But the heart monitor-" 

"The heart monitor was unattached from her finger, which is why it couldn't detect her heartbeat. The needle that was attached to her vain, is also detached- which is why the poison never hit her," he showed me what he meant. "Something must have happened for her to have pulled them off," he shrugged before putting the heart monitor's finger clip sensor and throwing the poisoned liquid into a bag. "I'll give this to the police as evidence," he said and walked out.

That's when I heard it. Adri's heartbeat. "Shit, Adri. Thank God we haven't called your parents because they would have had a heart attack. Don't you ever scare me like that again," I spoke to a sleeping Adri as I took a seat next to her. "When you wake up and get admitted from the hospital, I'm taking you for a nice dinner and then I'll tell you how much I need you.I really thought I had lost you and I wouldn't have had the chance to tell you how important you are to me. How sorry I was for being such an asshole towards you. 

"I remember when I first thought I had a crush on you. You were talking about how much you loved a certain Italian food and the way your eyes shined just- I don't know how to describe it- I sound weird and mushy, but I couldn't help feeling that way. When you laughed, it was carefree and so alive. That's why I like making you laugh. So that I can hear it and get lost in it," I chuckled at how ridiculous I sounded. "But I guess what I'm trying to say, but am miserably failing at, is that realized I wasn't wrong all those years before and I want to apologize for making you wait so long and putting you through so much, so that I could see for myself how much you really mean to me. I love you Adrianna  Carters." The heart monitor sped up and I turned around to see it. 

"And I love you, Chase Drewins."
