Nicole's P.O.V.

Fucking shit. Chase isn't answering my damn calls. I threw the phone on the passenger seat and slammed my hands down the steering wheel, screaming a little. I was beyond angry. She wasn't supposed to survive the 'accident'. She was supposed to be in the morgue, not in a hospital bed! All this was for nothing; Chase is going to be with her at all times now instead of his girlfriend.

Relax Nicole. Take a deep breath and think about your next move. If I was going to keep Chase, I would have to appear to be on Adri's side. I concentrated until the idea hit me. It was going to hurt- I knew it.

I took the hammer I saved for special events from under the rented car seat and stared at it. With a shaky breath, I closed my eyes and swung it hard at my shins.

Chase's P.O.V.

Adri's mom was crying into the shoulder of her silent weeping husband. They were on their business trip in New York when they received the call about Adri's accident. Even my mom was here, staring blankly at the floor with a tissue in her hand. Everything was silent and the hours seemed to drag on.

My phone buzzed. I looked down to see the screen once again.

10 missed calls from Nicole.

It was at that moment that she stepped out of the elevator with red, puffy eyes. She must feel horrible about what happened to Adri too. "Chase," she mumbled as she came over with a small limp, but I was too tired to care about what happened with her. "I heard about the accident, I tried to call but you didn't pick up."

"Nicole, I just need to be alone right now. Everything is just too much for me to handle and I really don't need you adding on to that."

She took a seat next to me, "Chase this is what girlfriends are supposed to do. Be there for you. Please, don't push me away. Not after all we've been through."

"Nicole, you have to under-" she cut me off by pressing her lips on mine. I stared at the ceiling and waited for her to stop, but since she didn't I gently pushed her away. "Stop. Just stop, Nicole."

"I can't believe you right now."

"I told you that I needed space an-"

"I get it," she cut me off. "We have to be here for Adri right now." I nodded.

"Thank you," I closed my eyes, but not before I heard her mumble.

"Poor, poor, little, Adri."
