I ran towards my house that was right next to Chase's. My parents were no where to be seen, so I made my way upstairs.
I turned on my bedroom light on and took off my shoes. Plopping face down on my bed, I sighed. A flashback ran across my mind of Chase and I.
"Would you look at those two, I have a feeling they'll end up falling in love, Mary," Chase's mother, Janet, told my mom.
"I think so too Janet, we'd be blind not to see the love they already have for each other," my mother responded whilst shooting a glance and a sly smile at Chase and I.
"Mom, Adri and I are only best friends and it will always stay that way," Chase cut in as he side hugged me and smiled at both our moms. I was thirteen and he was fourteen at the time. I didn't understand why I felt a sharp pain in my chest as those words left his lips. Of course I agreed with him... right?
Little did they-no- we know, how close to the truth they were. Sure, I fell in love with him, but sadly, he didn't fall in love with me. That hurt, but I'd rather never get to be called his then lose him and our friendship forever. Although the ache in my chest only grows when I'm with him, yet never with him, I never say anything and instead I distance myself from him. All I want to do is be next to him, but I'm too tired of fighting for my feelings for him. Even if I stayed away from him and even if I forget my feelings for him, there's always a reminder in my head when it starts to spin and it hits me then...
I love him.
I look up to see the picture of both of us placed on my night stand. We're at our favorite spot on the beach called Seashell and we're both laughing as he's splashing water at me and my hands are up in front of me, as if somehow protecting me from the warm water. I smile at the memory and pick up the picture frame, running my finger along his face. Sighing, I place the picture down and maybe I'll get some sleep tonight.

The morning sun's rays shined through the cracks of my curtains. I yawned and stretched, trying to adjust my sleepy eyes to the bright sunlight. Swinging my legs to the side of the bed, I got up to take a shower and brush my teeth. The warm water felt relaxing against me, each drop of water softly hitting my skin. I did what I had to do and got out of the shower to be received by a soft, plush towel. I brushed my hair and then put it up in a high ponytail and I made my way downstairs where the delicious aroma of pancakes and bacon with eggs was coming from.
"Goodmorning Mom, 'morning Dad," I said with a smile as I entered the kitchen.
"Morning Kiddo," my dad replied with a smile whilst flipping through the newspaper.
"Morning Sweetheart, you forgot to greet our guests..." my mother said whilst giving me a playful, stern look. I turned my head and was met with those blue eyes and... her.
"Morning Sunshine," Chase said with a smile.
"Uhh... morning Chase and... Nicole, what brings you here?," I responded along with a forced smile.
"Morning Adri! Well, Chasey brought me here to have breakfast along with the family so... yeah," I cringed at Chase's pet name and my name, only people who I loved were allowed to call me that, and trust me, Nicole was far from that. She didn't think that my family was her family too right?
"That's okay with you, right Sunshine?" Chase asked me. I looked at Nicole and she had that bright smile of hers, gosh I just wanted to smack it off.
"Yeah, I guess it is, but please, call me Adrianna," with that, I turned around to help set the table, but not before seeing Chase frown at my last statement. I may have come out bitchy, but I guess it's because of my jealousy towards her, I won't lie about it either.
