"It was very kind of you to offer your help, Joseph. But you shouldn't have; I can take care of everything." Vittoria said, while starting to organize a serving tray for her pastries and the orange juice.

"Oh, I know, ma chéri, I just wanted to be alone with you for a little." The boy admitted, making the girl stop and turn to look at him, slightly confused.

"Why? I mean, not that I don't appreciate it. But, um, your friends are here too, so I thought you would have preferred to wait with them." The girl continued.

"What? You don't want me?" Joseph asked, putting a hand on his heart and taking a step back.

"What?! No, no, you know what I meant, Jo." Vittoria exclaimed.

"Do I? But the way... Jo, uh?" Joseph asked, with a little smirk adorning his face.

"You don't like it?" Vittoria asked, confused and a little embarrassed.

"Oh no, no, no, darling. I love it." He said, getting closer and putting his right hand on her right cheek.

He loves it.

And he told her, with such truthfulness in his voice and eyes, that how could she not believe him? God, she couldn't actually think of the possibility that he was lying...she just couldn't.

And this scared her, like a lot.

She was an overthinker, even for the littlest things, so why wouldn't she overthink this? What was happening?

Sure, she was happy that for once she didn't have this cold shiver running through her back at the thought that she did or said the wrong thing.

No, the shivers that passed through her entire body were different. It was something that reminded her of a little electric shock, something that made her warm on the inside, almost making her want to feel more. It was definitely captivating.
